Cnidaria　刺胞動物　希語でイラクサknidēが語源。サンゴcoralは希語で珊瑚korállionが語源。イソギンチャクはsea anemoneだが、アネモネは希語で風ánemos＋の娘ōnē由来。クラゲはjellyfishで、ゼリーは羅語でgelata凍らせたより。
