Modern Last Samurai: Roger Voltz’s recommendation on Martial Arts
Roger Voltz, the French Modern Last Samurai, has been training in martial arts and classical martial arts for 50 years since coming to Japan.
After graduating from the University of Paris, he completed his military service in the French army and came to Japan in 1973.
He lived at the Yōseikan Dojo under the late Minoru Mochizuki, a well-known figure in Judo and Aikido even in France, and spent his 20s and 30s immersed in Karate, Aikido, and martial arts.
In 2006, he founded his own style of staff martial arts, Shindoryu Bōjutsu.
He believes Japan can make better use of the “spirit of martial arts.”
(Marcel)
Through years of training in martial arts and classical martial arts, I’ve learned many techniques, but what’s most important is the spirit.
