「ひな祭」を英語で言ってみる❣️

明日は3月3日、桃の節句、「ひな祭」の日ですね。我が家にもハイティーンの娘がおりますので、ささやかながらヘッダー写真にあるように雛人形を飾っております。あと何回飾る機会があるのかなぁ、、、などと考えるとなんかちょっと寂しいですね。ということで、1日早いフライングですが、今日は「ひな祭」を英語で言ってみよう❣️

１．「ひな祭」とは何でしょうか？

ひな祭　ひな祭は女の子のための祭で，3月3日に行われます。この祭はまた，桃の花が主要な飾りとなる季節の祭で，桃の節句とも呼ばれます。ひな祭りは人形（ひとがた）の風習、お祓いの信仰、「ひいな遊び」などの行事が融合したものと考えられています。古代中国には上巳の日（3月最初の巳の日）に川で身を清める風習があり、これが日本に伝わり草や藁など作った人形（ひとがた）に穢れや災いを移して川や海に流す風習として定着したようです。平安時代にはこれが流し雛として広がるようになり、江戸時代に今日みられるようなひな人形を家の中に飾る風習となりました。女の子がいる家庭では，美しい着物を着た一群の人形を数段の棚に並べます。人形は昔の宮廷人を模したものです。最上段に天皇・皇后ひな（内裏びな)，その下の段には順に，2人の高位の貴族（右大臣と左大臣)，3人官女，5人ばやし，3人の召使が並びます。さらに下段には，小さな家具や食物の模型まで飾ります。元来は，手作りの人形を供え物といっしょに，3月3日に川に流したものです。しかし今日では，商品として作られた高価な人形なので，翌年のためにしまっておきます。多くの場合，人形は代々受け継がれます。ひな祭の日には，特別の料理の他に，甘酒という甘い酒が出されます。

２．「ひな祭」(Doll Festival)を英語で言ってみる❣️

Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) Hinamatsuri is a festival for girls and is celebrated on March 3rd. This festival is also called Momo-no-Sekku (Peach Festival) because it is a seasonal festival in which peach blossoms are the main decoration. The Doll Festival is thought to be a fusion of the customs of dolls, the belief in purification, and "Hiina-play". In ancient China, there was a custom of purifying oneself in a river on the day of the snake (the first day of the snake in March), and this custom was introduced to Japan and seems to have been established as a custom of transferring impurities and misfortunes to dolls made of grass and straw and throwing them into rivers and the sea. In the Heian period (794-1185), this custom spread as Nagashi-bina (floating dolls), and in the Edo period (1603-1868), it became a custom to display hina dolls in the house as we see today. In households with girls, a group of dolls dressed in beautiful kimonos are arranged on several shelves. The dolls are made to resemble the courtesans of old. On the top shelf are the emperor and empress dolls (uchibina), and on the bottom shelf are, in order, two high-ranking noblemen (the right and left ministers), three court ladies, five bayashi, and three servants. On the lower tier, small models of furniture and food are also displayed. Originally, handmade dolls were floated down the river on March 3rd, along with offerings. Nowadays, however, since the dolls are expensive and made as to products, they are put away for the next year. In many cases, dolls are passed down from generation to generation. On Hinamatsuri, in addition to special dishes, sweet sake is served.
