毎回こちらから一文ずつ取り上げていきます。
今日取り上げるのは…

英文は、だれが→どうする→何をといった順番で並んでいます。
意味のかたまりで区切って、日本語を当ててから、解説にとんでみてください。
それでは、説明していきたいと思います。
Of these / the first and second were extremely condensed, / while the last is, / as I shall now show, / an absolute perversion of the facts.
これらのうち / 一番目と二番目は非常に要約されていた / 一方、最後のは～だ / 私がいま示すように / 事実の完全な歪曲
while the last is の意味的な続きは an absolute… で、as I shall now show は
挿入句とみなすとよいと思います。
the last is… のような A is B タイプの英文は、ＡとＢそれぞれが短ければ
「ＡはＢである」と簡単に理解できますが、ＡかＢのどちらか、または両方が長くなったり、今回のようにＡとＢの間に挿入句が入っていたりすると、
処理が大変になるので、be動詞が出てきた時点でＡは○○である、ではＢにあたる○○とは何なのか？とＢの部分を読んでいくクセをつけていくことをおススメします。
