A private paper on meeting a new word

　It is always exhilarating for me to meet a new word. But some argue that it is a waste of time and toil to memorize a word which is not often used. 

　From a practical point of view, it might be better to learn a word often used than to learn a word rarely used. To think a language is merely a means of communication in our daily life, such an idea mentioned above can be justified. 

　However, a language is, in my opinion, something which possesses more roles than that. 
　To be sure, one of the roles the language plays is to communicate with others, but it is also of great value to communicate with oneself. Had you only easy words, you would not be able to fully express yourself to yourself. 
　Admitting that, to some extent, you can describe what you think if you have no more than easy words, you will need more appropriate words meticulous enough to fully express yourself. 

　Building and enriching your vocabulary is building and enriching yourself. Knowing a new word is discovering yourself whom you yourself have not known. To encounter a new word is always a lot of fun.
