心も体も整えられる。　【雲龍院 写経】 The mind and body are prepared.

好きな写経場「雲龍院」。京都 東山奥座敷にある御寺泉涌寺の別院である。いつもは本堂が写経場ではあるが、その日はひんやりした空気を感じる霊明殿だった。

My favorite sutra-copying place "Unryu-in". It is an annex of Sennyu-ji Temple in Higashiyama, Kyoto.
The main hall is usually the sutra-copying hall, but on that day it was the Reimeiden where you can feel the cool air.

雲龍院では写経をする前に、香辛料や生薬にも使われる、乾燥させた丁字(ちょうじ)のつぼみを口に含み、そして、けがれを除くとされている塗香を手に塗る。さらに少量の酒水(清水)を頭にふってから始める。

At Unryu-in, before copying sutras, the buds of dried cloves, which are also used for spices and crude drugs, are put in the mouth, and the incense that is supposed to remove injuries is applied to the hands. Start by sprinkling a small amount of sake water (fresh water) on your head.

写経する時に使用する机は、後水尾天皇によって寄進された机をいま現在も使用されているというから精神的高揚がみなぎってくる。
香を含み、手を清め、そして朱墨で般若心経を写す。用紙には菊の御紋が刷られている。

As for the desk used for copying sutras, the desk donated by Emperor Gomizuno is still in use, so it is full of spiritual uplifting. Including incense, cleanse hands, and copy the Heart Sutra with red ink. A chrysanthemum crest is printed on the paper.

静かな時が流れ、心も体もすべてが整えられていく。
書き終えて、霊明殿をでると、色がつき始めている紅葉や楓が風に揺られていた。

Quiet time passes, and everything is in order, both physically and mentally. When I finished writing and left Reimeiden, the autumn leaves and maples that were beginning to color were swaying in the wind.
