寒露も末候にはいりキリギリスやこおろぎの声が聞こえる季節とのことです。
どちらの虫が正しいかは諸説あるようです…

我が家では、結構前から聞こえていた気がしますが、違う虫だったのかな…？


One of the 72 seasons of the Japanese calendar that falls around 18th to 22nd October called "kirigirisu to ni ari ".
(Grass hoppers are coming around home) ".

It's one of the seasons in "Kanro/寒露" which is also one of the 24 seasons of Japnese calendar.

蟋蟀 means Grass hoppers
在 means stay
戸 means door especially in the entrance

If it translate directly "grass hoppers are in front of the door.
It means the grass hoppers or crickets which are the autumn Insects are calling, and we can feel the autumn from their voice.
