摂食障がいの克服323【過食症と英検1級②】

　こんばんは。

　オンラインの英語指導のため早起きしたら、キャンセルになりました。
　気を取り直して9時前から英語を勉強していて、17時を過ぎました。
　1級語彙問題に出題されるとされている名詞448単語の意味確認をしていたら、5時間以上経過してしまったのですが、448単語終えて直後に、テストしてみても、『？』が多すぎて脱力しました…。

　人間の記憶力の限界ですね。
　嫌なことばかり覚えていて、脳の大半をいつも占めているのに。

　昨日までに448単語の形容詞を数日で意味確認したのですが（名詞も形容詞も一通り過去に確認しているものです。本当に以前学んだのかというほどに定着していなかった…）、問題は、この形容詞や名詞（明日は例えば動詞をして）、それが1級問題のすべてではないことです（涙）。

　実際に先ほど過去問をみていたら、学んだばかりの形容詞でも見知らぬ単語が出題されているので。

　1級の語彙問題に対応できる語彙力を養うとなると年単位の気合のような気もします。このところそれでも楽しいなって思うのは、ひとつの単語を区切って考えることです。"in"がついているから"ex"が、"con"が等。ひとつひとつの単語のコアとなる部分を考えつつ、意味を確認するという作業です。名詞を勉強しつつ、動詞へ変換してみたり。

　英作文を書きました。議題は【318】で書かせて頂き、この問題が出たら絶句だと感じた問題です。書きたいことが不透明というよりはどう書けばいいかが、このところ英作文対策してきた私では曲がりなりにもあったけれど、全くわからないと思いました。

　『Has a university degree in the humanities lost its relevance in today's world?』

　【319】で書かせて頂いたように、私は人文科学は今日の世界に必要というか密接に関わるというスタンスで書きたいのです（【318】でもそう思っていますが、この時点ではこの試験が出たらどう英作したらいいかで恐らくタイムリミットになるだろうと思った）。

　ある方が書かれている英文を今日読んでしまった（読ませて頂いた）は事実です。何も人文科学を専攻することにおいて、将来ばかりに着目せずに、そこで学べるということに特化して書いてもいいのかと思った際に、あるノーターさんが書かれていた、プレゼンの様子が目の前に広がったのです。

　大前提ですが、私は文系なので（FPという資格も持っていますが）、大学も文系です。この際に私は小論文を書く、プレゼンやディベートをするということを多く経験しています。なるほど、それって大事だったなって思って。私は個人営業している時も今の仕事でも、概ね顧客と会話をしています。顧客には様々な背景がありますが、話すことによって顧客ニーズを引き出すとか、仮に大企業の方にオファーし成立する段階にも私の場合は主に、心理学や歴史という分野ではないかと思うのですが、そういう分野なしに人とは語れない。いえ、言語学とかもかも。とにかく他国の方とコミュニケーションをとる上で欠かせない要素は多々ある。

　頑張って書いたのでまた張り付けています。さらっと飛ばしてください。
　しかしながら、私の理解が間違っていなければだけれど、これからも必要だ、と【319】で書いたように has been and will beを使ってみました。

　Though it is true that science and technology are dominant in developing the world overall, I think a university degree in the humanities has still an inextricable connection to today’s world. This is due that learning humanities provides students with skills of logical and practical thinking, respecting dignity and security, and taking over more peaceful world to next generation.
　To begin with, the alumni would be highly experienced in logical and practical thinking, having gone through enough trainings till completing a degree of humanities. Debates, presentations, and composing dissertations are parts of cores no matter which fields they would become engaged in.
　Secondly, learning humanities are acquiring deference of dignity and security in another word. Lack of deference to the sense might pose less peaceful world. Human’s avarice has caused wars, conflicts, rebellions and the only solution is to keep learning humans after all.
　Finally, only human can contribute to nurturing and to educating of next generation. In some areas of Africa, mothers without enough education have troubles in bringing their children up, not knowing how to deal with them. This is likely to bring deadly cycles. Introduction of education in humanities would be a hope, though it would have a long way to go still in many areas. Advanced nations, at least, should treasure this traditional field of degree, which is of humanities.
　I truly believe a degree of humanities has been deeply relevant to today’s world and it will be.
