"I can hardly remember Dad. I remember ..." Memories of my English teacher in the Philippines when he was young.

I take online English lessons every morning. The teacher is a 21-year-old man who works in the office in Cebu, Philippines. The other day, I talked about his father between small chats. His father ceased cancer when he was six. I make a note of his memories of his father.

――What do you remember about Dad?

Teacher: I hardly remember Dad. I was six when my dad died.

――What is the most memorable thing?

Teacher: Hmm. We lived near the sea. There is a harbor nearby. I went to the beach early in the morning with my dad. Certainly we were picking up shellfish. After that we went to a small shop to buy chocolate.
I was drinking hot chocolate at breakfast.

I never took a picture with my dad. In the Philippines it was not common at the time to take pictures. I wanted to take a picture together.

I want to show my dad what I am now. Maybe he's proud of me.

I miss my dad. It's a sad story. See you tomorrow!

He was six when his father died. His sister is 3 and 0 or 1 year old. I guess the younger sisters have no more memories of their father than him. One day, he told in a few minutes' conversation.
