Ability to do or not to do by Tea catechin
There should be some of you have questions that related to tea catechin’s effectiveness for more than I wrote in this blog previously, like “could be effective for skin”, “could be effective for making brain work well”, so on.
So let’s note some more interesting effects of what tea catechin can do or not!
Could catechin be possible to reduce body fat?
Well, since it has been approved to be “special health foods”, it must be effective for burning fat and let’s talk about it little bit more!
However, you may think that could it be really useful for a diet? Even there has been some tiny statistics differences up there, I understand it should be useful for real life for us.
So found those articles for your references, let’s have a look!
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19597519/
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21366839/
Both articles integrate into “green tea and diet” 11 and 12 datas, let me just jump up to their conclusion.
* At least drinking 200ml of green tea daily for more 12 weeks, you can have average reduction of body weight be 1.13kg, but if you take 300mg of caffeine with, it does not show the same results.
* 253mg of catechin and 30mg of caffeine daily get average of 5.7g of fat burning.
* It can be said you should basically take about 400 to 500mg of EGCG daily.
Well, it depends on what you think from that results, for me, when the time comes, I would use it like before the summer comes because of going to the beach, you know.
According to the catechin, it can be very useful source but...
* It would need taking caffeine with it...
* But the longer you take caffeine, the less effective you get...
Such problems still line up, just take them your advantage. And if you want to use EGCG with caffeine combination by supplement, its be better you take rest period of 2 weeks monthly.
*Put “EGCG supplement” links from iherb or Amazon here.
Could catechin have possibility to improve cholesterol problems?
You may be hearing correlations between catechin and cholesterols pep talks anywhere.
Here is some articles for it but it is not meta-analysis but it is fine quality.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18468736/
* The targets were 78 women and they took 490mg of catechin daily in 3 months. They decreased LDL-cholesterol and triglyceride little bit and decreased 0.3 % of body weight too.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22246619/
* The targets were 103 women and they took 400 to 800mg of EGCG daily for 2 months. LDL-cholesterol decreased little bit and HDL-cholesterol increased little bit.
Somehow it has actions like from those results. But as you know, that can’t say “That is why let’s take catechin to decrease cholesterols!”
So let’s summarize for it to say “Don’t count on it because it is tiny differences statistically”...
Could catechin make you be more intelligent or smarter?
There has been rumor that “could it be useful source of making us smarter?” like that. As I found for it, still not great progress fields so only useful two articles, let you know.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21303262/
* The targets who were 45 men and women with mild-cognitive impairment and they took 1680mg of catechin, they improved their brain response speed and alertness.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22389082/
* The targets were 27 healthy men and women and they took 135 to 270mg of EGCG. 45 minutes, changing their cerebral blood flow(CBF) after oral injection of EGCG, but not for cognitive functions and moods.
As you know that there is few examples for researches however, it sounds we can have a hope for it, can’t we?
Could catechin make our skin beautiful?
One more thing for catechin myth is “ beauty for skin” that I only found one useful article for it. Let’s have a look!
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21525260/
* The targets were 60 women aged 45 to 65 and they took 1402mg of catechin for 6 to 12 weeks, improving their blood flow and their skin got stronger for UVR.
