October 24, 2024: 2024 General Election （総選挙）

With the polling day on 27 October, the campaign for the 2024 general election is now under way. And I am going to a polling station on the day. But I do not expect that the result will be so surprising as to change in the power balance in the Diet. It will only send a small shockwave to the Diet.
In this campaign, I do not know exactly why, but my parliamentary constituency (PC) is busy and noisy. It is much louder than in the previous elections. The previous campaigns gave me no chance to see the candidates in my PC. They  seemed to have a lot of things to do in other areas and to ignore me.
But this campaign is not as boring as the previous ones. It gives me more chances to see noisy campaign cars than before. And on the first day of the campaign, a famous and popular politician came to where I live to make a speech for a candidate. The politician, who is the governor of other prefecture, seems to have a close relationship with the candidate. And the governor seems to be leisure enough to come to where I live. he or she must have needed at least an hour to come here.
In any case, I am never influenced by the performance to attract voters' eyes. Rather, I hate such a thing and I tend to lose my motive to poll for the candidate. I just vote for a candidate based on what it has done and its policies. So, I need more information about what the candidates have done and their policies. And I need to see if they can really achieve what they have promised.

　10月27日が投票日の総選挙の戦いが始まりました。ボクも投票日に投票所に行きます。
　でも、今回の選挙で国会のパワーバランスが変わるほど驚くような結果になるとは思っていません。所詮、国会に小さな衝撃を与える程度でしょう。
今回の選挙戦では、なぜかよくわかりませんが、ボクの選挙区（PC）が賑やかで騒がしいです。以前の選挙よりもはるかに騒がしいです。以前の選挙では、候補者自身に会う機会がありませんでした。彼らは他の地域でやることがたくさんあり、ボクを無視しているようでした。
　でも、今回の選挙戦は、以前ほど退屈ではありません。選挙カーを見る機会も以前より増えました。そして選挙戦の初日には、かの有名で人気のある政治家が候補者の応援演説のためにボクの町にやってきました。といってもこの方は他都県の知事さんで、候補者とは親しい関係だけのようです。ボクの町に来れるほど暇のようです。少なくとも1時間はかかるのですから。
　いずれにせよ、ボクは注目を引くためのパフォーマンスに左右されることはありません。むしろ、そういうのが嫌で、そんなことをする候補者に投票する気が失せる方です。ボクは、候補者が何をしてきたか、どんな政策を持っているかに基づいて投票するだけです。だから、候補者が何をしてきたのか、どんな政策を持っているのか、もっと情報が必要です。そして、彼らが公約したことが本当に達成できそうか確認が必要です。
