↑舞鶴公園（福岡市）にて  ↑At Maizuru Park, Fukuoka

洗濯機に手あかのついた言葉を入れ洗う　手あかが落ちるときもある　　　　　　
     We wash phrases soiled
     From handling. Sometimes they are cleansed,
     While usually not*

     *In Japanese, “hackneyed” phrases are said as phrases “soiled from handling,” though the expression itself wants washing.

風上へ走って逃げてもタンポポの綿毛の群が追いかけてくる　　　　　　　　　　
     I run hard upwind, but
     A swarm of dandelion fluffs
     Is still chasing me

ぶどうパンのように全身干しぶどうが練り込んであるぶどう人間　　　　　　　　
     A raisin human,
     Into whose body raisins are
     Kneaded, like raisin bread

しぼんだら穴から息を吹き込んで紙風船のようにふくらます　　　　　　　　　　
     As you breathe into
     A deflated paper balloon,
     You restore a person

ぎらぎらと輝きながらイカの群が空を横切り彼方へ消える 
     Glistening in the sky,
     A school of squids goes away
     Into the distance

あちこちから紙飛行機が集まってたき火の中へ次々飛び込む
     Somehow, paper planes
     Gather from all directions and
     Fly into the bonfire

薄い皮がぴらぴらはがれその度に徐々に大きくなっていく月　　　　　　　　　　
     The moon gradually
     Grows larger, sloughing off
     Its filmy skins

その人が息を吹き込むとどんどんと空へ上っていく紙風船　　　　　　　　　　
     When the person breathes
     Into it, the paper balloon
     Rises into the sky

何列も畑に並んだ作物のように私が整列している　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
     Like rows and rows
     Of crops in a field, countless
     I’s are aligned

その人は書物の中へ吸い込まれ別の書物の中から出てきた　　　　　　　　　　　
     The person was sucked
     Into one book and came out
     Of another

風に頼み麦わら帽子を人間から奪ってこさせむしゃむしゃ食べる　　　　　 
     The goat asks the wind
     To fetch a straw hat from the head
     Of a human, for food

サイコロが空中で消えもう一つ振ったがそれも空中で消えた　　　　　　　　　　
     The die I threw
     Vanished in the air, and
     Another vanished, too

空中に静止して浮く小石たちに息を吹きかけ動きを与える　　　　　　　　　　
     I breathe on pebbles
     Floating stationarily
     In the air to move them

無風でも前へ動けば前方から風が吹いてくる　吹いているのか？　　　　　　　　
     Can we call it “wind”?
     The "wind" against us when we move
     Forward, when it’s windless

黴のようにびっしり生えた私を私自身が拭き取っていく　　　　　　　　　　　　
     I wipe away
     Myself’s which have multiplied
     And grown like mold

にんじんや大根たちが水槽でくねくね泳いでいる水族館　　　　　　　　　　　　
     An aquarium,
     Where carrots and Japanese
     Radishes swim, wriggling

仕事から帰ると家が十分の一に縮んでいて入れない　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
     I found my home had shrunk
     To the size of one-tenth, and
     Could not enter it

ゴムボールをぐにゅっと押すと空の月もぐにゅっと同じところがへこむ 
     The moon in the sky
     Also dents, when I push
     The rubber ball hard

青空がたまに薄目を開いては私が何をしているか見る　　　　　　　　　　　　　
     The blue sky at times
     Opens its eyes slightly to see
     What I am doing

ライオンが頭の中で吠えている　まわりの人にもそれが聞こえる　　　　　　　　
     Inside my head
     A lion is howling, which is
     Audible to others
