蛇のようにしゅるしゅる赤い舌を出し迫ってくるのは大カタツムリ
     Darting its red, narrow
     Tongue in and out, a giant snail
     Bears down on me
 
本の文字の一つ一つが人になりあたりに満ちて都市を造った　　　　　　　　　　
     All the letters
     Of a book became humans, and
     Have built a city
 
自分の住む地域の地図の上に手をかざすと外で日差しがかげった　　　　　　　　
     When I held my hand
     Over a map of my area,
     The sun was darkened
 
文字たちが本から本へ引っ越しをする季節には字の群が飛ぶ　　　　　　　　　　
     Swarms of letters are
     Seen flying, in search of
     A book to live in

向こうから起き上がるように虹が架かり向こうへ倒れるように消えていく　　　　
     A rainbow gets up
     From beyond, and disappears,
     Falling backward
 
その人は怒ると顔にたくさんの目が現れて恐ろしく睨む　　　　　　　　　　　　
     The person rages,
     Opening many eyes all
     Over the face to glare

手のひらにテントウムシがとまったが見る見るうちに滴になった　　　　　　　　
     A ladybird,
     On settling on my palm,
     Turned into a drop
 
飛ばしてもいつも途中で向きを変え手元にもどってくる紙飛行機　　　　　　　　
     Always swerving
     Halfway, the paper plane
     Returns to my hand

ボーリングのピンが十本三角の隊列を組んで歩いていたが　　　　　　　　　　　
     Ten bowling pins,
     Walking in a triangular
     Formation, all tumbled
 
片割れがどこかで踊り始めると私も同時に踊ってしまう　　　　　　　　　　　　
     I cannot help dancing,
     Whenever my counterpart
     Begins to dance somewhere
 
おとなしく列を作って獣たちがトランポリンの順番を待つ　　　　　　　　　　　
     Beasts are waiting
     In line for their turns to play
     On the trampoline

おびただしいレモンが黄色いレモン形の雲になり空を横切って行く　　　　　　　
     Countless, floating lemons,
     Forming a lemon-shaped mass,
     Go across the sky
 
むき終えがみかんがむくむく大きくなりカボチャになった　料理して食べた　　　
     The orange I had peeled
     Turned into a large pumpkin,
     Which I cooked and ate
 
トンネルを怖がらせたら山の外へ這い出て身体をくねらせて逃げた　　　　　　　
     When I scared the tunnel,
     It crawled out of the mountain
     And wriggled away
 
ばらばらにしゃっくりしていた花々がやがてそろってしゃっくりし出した　　　　
     The flowers, which had been
     Hiccupping not in unison,
     Got all synchronized
