There once was a sheep that was good at sports and popular among his classmates.

“Let’s play, Sheep!”

“Sure!”

However, the frog was always alone.

He loved to water flowers in the schoolyard during recess.

One day during a class meeting, some classmates were discussing which flowers to plant in the schoolyard.

The sheep said,

“I think we should plant sunflowers because they'll cheer us up!”

Everyone agreed.

However, the frog pushed himself to raise his hand and said,

“I don’t think it's a good idea to plant sunflowers in the schoolyard because it doesn’t get much sunlight. So I think shade-loving plants like impatiens will be better.”

Someone exclaimed,

“You're just saying that because you're looking for attention! I think Sheep is right! What're impatiens?”

"Yeah! Sheep’s idea is great!”

“That settles it! We're planting sunflowers!"

Then the rabbit raised her hand and said,

"Hey! I think he must've had a good reason for mentioning the impatiens."

Everyone became quiet.

The frog started to explain again.

“Impatiens can grow in shady places like the schoolyard. A flower picture book said so. They're radiant and make us happy!”

Classmates were impressed with him and said,

"Sorry for accusing you of only wanting to be in the spotlight.

“Planting impatiens is a great idea!I"

"Wow, you find joy in the little things-even in watering the flowers every day. I couldn't do that!"
"Tell me more about flowers!"

The next day the impatiens were blooming vividly in the schoolyard.

Commentary
Genetic fallacy is judging information by where it comes from. In the first half of the story, even though the frog's recommendation of planting impatiens made logical sense, the sheep's idea was supported by the other classmates because the sheep is popular and the frog is shy. The rabbit insisted that their classmates listen to the frog so that the frog could elaborate.
It is not usual to meet a happy ending like this in reality, but it is important to consider all opinions as valid regardless of their source. It will be beneficial in some way to consider all types of information unbiasedly.
