Moving to Japan was the best decision ever - Decision to move from Manhattan to Japan’s small town. Why we are loving it.
In 2015, I moved back to Japan with my American husband and our 1-year-old son. We had lived in Manhattan, New York for many years, had good jobs, and had wonderful friends.
Then why did we move and started a whole new life here in Japan?
It’s simple. It’s because we love our family. My parents were getting old, and we wanted to be by their side. We wanted our son to grow up by his grandparents’ side too, as grandparents give different kind of love to grandchild than parents. We simply thought spending time together and staying by each other’s side as a family is a great thing.
After almost 10 years, our son grew up to be a boy with a beautiful heart and compassion. My father had cancer and passed away 3 years ago, but we have so many beautiful memories with him and it meant more than anything to us that we were together until his last moment.
We loved living in New York City, and now we love living in Japan so much too.
Our life evolves. It has purpose. There are reasons why things happen or you make things happen. You make decisions based on what matters to you.
What is the most important thing to you? What makes your heart content? What are the things you will regret not to do later in your life?
