     Everybody sneezes, but there are different reactions to the sneezing.
     In Japan, if you sneeze, nobody says anything.  But in English-speaking countries, people say, "Bless you." or "God bless you." when they hear someone sneezes.  Even if you sneeze in a train, strangers around you would say, "Bless you."
    Why do people say it?  In the Middle Ages, it was believed that a sneeze could expel their souls out of their bodies, and a devil would take their souls.  The phrase has been used as a protection against the devil.
     Your proper response is to say, "Thank you."  When you sneeze and somebody says "Bless you.", do not forget to mention "Thank you."

　誰でもくしゃみをする。しかしくしゃみに対しての周りの反応は様々である。
　日本では、もしあなたがくしゃみをしても、誰も何も言和ない。しかし英語圏では、周りの人は誰かがくしゃみをしたのを聞くと、"Bless you."または"God bless you."と言う。（「神のご加護を」と言う意味）
