May 17, 2023: Greece, Share Taxi （ギリシャ、乗合タクシー）
Greece gave me new experiences that I had never had before. Some were good, but others were bad. What surprised me the most was a share taxi. Never had I taken it before I took it in Athens. In fact, I had not known that the share taxi existed. When I walked around downtown Athens with the staff of my Greek customer, I was told to take a taxi to the next destination since it was too far to reach on foot. Then, he stopped a taxi and opened the rear door. Just as I was about to get in it, I saw a man sitting on the seat. At that moment, I was taken aback and froze. Then the staff explained to me that it was a share taxi and that sharing a taxi was common here. I understood what was happening and took it. But I was ill at ease with the stranger. The longer I was with him, the more worried I became. I was concerned about what I should do if something went wrong in the taxi as almost none of them spoke English well.
ギリシャでは、新しい体験が色々ありました。楽しいものあれば、そうでないものもありました。その中で、一番びっくりしたのは、乗合いタクシーです。ボクはそれ以前に、乗合タクシーに乗ったこともなかったし、そんなものがあることも知りませんでした。アテネ市内をお客さんのスタッフの方と市内を散策していた際にこの乗合タクシーに乗ったのです。そのスタッフから次の目的地までは遠いのでタクシーで行くといわれ、スタッフが1台のタクシーを止めました。スタッフがタクシーのドアーを開けてくれたので、乗ろうとしたところ、なんと、すでに人が乗っていたのです。ボクは、びっくりして一瞬かたまってしまいました。その時に、このスタッフから、ギリシャではタクシーは乗合が当たり前といわれました。それで納得して乗りましたが、乗っているうちに、ますます不安になりました。タクシーの中は、ほとんど英語が通じないので、何かあったときにどうしようという不安があったのです。
