October 6, 2024: Espresso Coffee（エスプレッソコーヒー）

I do not remember well when I began to have coffee. But I am sure that I have had it every morning for the least 30 years. In particular, I had and enjoyed a lot of coffee when I was in Europe. Europe had a wide vaeirty of coffee. In other words, each country in Europe had its own coffee. When I began to Dutch coffee in the Netherlands it tasted very good and was much better than the one I had had in Japan. It is still one of my favourites. I also had a lot of other coffee. Among them was Italian espresso, which I loved and still love the most. It was when I had a meeting with my customer in Milan, Italy that I had the first espresso of my life. It was so good that I was shocked.
I also enjoyed the espresso I had in Lisbon, Portugal. I had it at a coffee stand for a short break in the meeting with my customer. It was good, though it was a little different from the Italian one.
It has been a long time since I missed Italian espresso coffee on a regular basis. But it was a month ago that I suddenly had the urge to have espresso coffee at home. And I began to look for an espresso machine on online shopping sites.
But I had to give it up because I have epilepsy. I was told by my wife that coffee has a stimulant, so I had to give it up. I do not know whether the coffee is bad for epilepsy from a medical point of view. But I have to follow her advice. And I am determined to stop having coffee as I can no longer upset those who are concerned about me.

　いつからコーヒーを飲むようになったのかはよく覚えていません。でも、少なくとも30年間は毎朝飲んでいたことは確実です。特に欧州にいた頃は、たくさんのコーヒーを飲み、楽しめました。欧州では、コーヒーの種類が豊富でした。国それぞれに、独特のコーヒーがありました。オランダで飲んだコーヒーはとても美味しくて、日本で飲んでいたものよりずっと美味しかったです。今でもボクのお気に入りのひとつです。他にもいろいろなコーヒーを飲みました。その中でもイタリアのエスプレッソが一番好きだったし、今でも大好きです。人生で初めてイタリアのエスプレッソを飲んだのは、イタリアのミラノでお客さんと打ち合わせをしたときでした。あまりのおいしさに衝撃を受けました。
　ポルトガルのリスボンで飲んだエスプレッソも美味しかったです。お客さんとの打ち合わせの休憩時間にコーヒースタンドに行って飲みました。イタリアのものとは少し違うのですが美味しかったです。
　イタリアのエスプレッソ・コーヒーが飲めなくなって久しいです。でも、1ヶ月ほど前から急に家でエスプレッソを飲みたくなって、エスプレッソマシンをネットで探し始めていました。
　でも、これも諦めねばならなくなりました。てんかんのせいです。コーヒーは刺激が強いからと妻に言われました。医学的にコーヒーがてんかんに悪いかどうかはわかりませんが、妻のアドバイスに従います。そして、ボクのことを気にかけてくれた人にこれ以上迷惑をかけたくないので、コーヒーを止める決意をしました。
