November 17, 2023: Changes in My Town （ボクの町の変化）

Recently, I found some changes in my town. A couple of izakaya chains have recently moved out of my town. They have been near a JR station for many years. They enjoyed their business before the COVID-19 pandemic. But the pandemic took the shine off them. They had still been running their business after the end of the pandemic. But they all could not get back to normal and had to close their business recently. After that, the spaces have been empty for a while. But some of them have got new tenants. One of them is now used as a karaoke room. It is run by a national karaoke chain, Karaoke Manekineko, and the first location of the room in my town. The other is used as a new izakaya restaurant, which is run by a local company. Before it began to run its business in front of the station, the local restaurant was a five-minute walk from my flat and was very busy. With its success, it moved near the station and is still doing well. After the move, the space near my flat was empty for a while but it found a new tenant, an Italian restaurant. I am very happy with it because I was concerned that no one would use the space. And that, I am very happy that it is Italian, my favourite. It is already open and looks nice. I am going to go there to enjoy Italian, with my wife soon. I hope to enjoy an espresso coffee, too.
I also see new apartments being built. One of them is now being built near the station and the building itself is almost finished. According to a website, it is due to complete in 2024 and is already sold out. What it surprised me is the cost which is beyond the market price in my town. I wonder who bought them. It must be a wealthy neighborhood.

　最近、自分の町の変化に気付きました。居酒屋チェーン店が最近、町から撤退しました。長年JRの駅の近くにありました。コロナのパンデミック前は、繁盛していたのですが、コロナで輝きを失いました。パンデミック終息後も、営業はしていたのですが、活気を取り戻せず、最近、閉店になりました。その後、その場所はしばらく空いたままだったのですが、新しいテナントが見つかったところもあります。そのうちのひとつは、今、カラオケルームとして使われています。全国に展開するカラオケ店のまねきねこが運営しているもので、ボクの町には初出店です。もうひとつは、地元企業が運営する居酒屋として使われています。駅前で始める前は、ボクのマンションから歩いて5分のところで営業していて、その当時も繁盛していました。その勢いに乗って、駅の近くに移転しました。そして、今も、順調のようです。移転後は、マンションの近くのスペースはしばらく空いていましたが、新しいテナントにイタリアンのレストランがきまりました。そこを使う人はいないのではと心配していただけに、決まってとてもよかったです。しかも、大好きなイタリアンということで、とてもうれしいです。すでにオープンしていて、見た目もいいです。近々、妻とイタリアンを堪能しに行こうと思います。エスプレッソコーヒーも楽しみたいです。
　また、新しいマンションの建設も進んでいます。そのうちのひとつは、駅の近くで建設中で、建物自体はほぼ完成しています。ウェブサイトによると、2024年に完成予定で、すでに完売しているようです。驚いたのは、町の相場を超えた値段です。誰が買ったのだろうと思ってしまいます。皆さん、富裕層なのでしょう。
