REVIEW: NDT2’s "Lucid Variations" 24/10/2024(World Premier)
Ndt 2 (Nederlands Dans Theater 2)’s “Lucid Variations” contains two interesting productions, and both made strong impression to audience. I had an opportunity to attend the premiere of this impactful double bill at the Amare Theatre in The Hague.
“Folkå” is created by the Spanish talented choreographer Marcos Morau and originally premiered in 2021. Not only choreography, but also the interesting costumes designed by Silvia Delagneau enhance the potential of dancers and the stage. The performance effects were solid especially stage smoke and lightning made us feel as though you were inside a ruin. Beautiful lighting showed and lead them towards salvation. Their movement and crawling towards the light seemed to overlap to our protection and fight against the coronavirus.
Nadav Zelner’s “An untold story”(World Premiere) left another impression on us. This production "truly" surprised all audience with their eccentricity. Creating his virtual world with green light and peculiar movement, and it seemed like an ultra-futuristic world. Dancer's intriguing movements and the traditional Balkan music don't match, but the dissonance between them only highlighted the chaos.

民謡的なメロディーからどんどん盛り上がる音楽と共に熱気を帯びる力強い踊りが印象的でした。開演前からスモークが凄かったのですが、照明効果と相まってまるで廃墟の中にいるように感じさせてくれました。

SF映画にそのまま出てきそうな衝撃的すぎるビジュアルと独創的すぎる振付にビックリ。緑の空間で、クストリッツァみたいな音楽と共に不思議な動きをしていたという印象でした。
