【文法】
①Itが仮主語、isが述語動詞、stillはpossibleを修飾する副詞。
to discuss his place in artが真主語。
his placeはdiscussの目的語、in artはplaceを修飾する前置詞句。

②［the adulation of his admirers］ is perhaps no less capricious than ［the disparagement of his detractors］
ここは
［the adulation of his admirers］・・・・・・A
［the disparagement of his detractors］・・・B
と置いてみると
→A is perhaps no less capricious than B.
（AがcapriciousなのはBがcapriciousなのと同じだ→B同様Aはcapriciousだ）
という構文になる。
もともとこの構文は
A is perhaps capricious.
B is perhaps capricious.
という2つの文を、
A is perhaps no less capricious・・・capriciousの前にno lessを置き
than B is perhaps capricious・・・Bの前にthanを置いて
以下のように1つの文にまとめたものである。
→A is perhaps no less capricious than B is perhaps capricious.
なお、is perhaps capriciousという情報は重複するので省略されて、

くどいようだが…
no lessは（少ないということはない→少なくない→同じだ）だから
