Studio Ghibli plans to open a theme park based on its work.
Located on the site of the 2005 World’s Fair, the park will include a theater and a building with show areas.
Already built on
this site for the fair
is a model of Satsuki and Mei’s house from My Neighbor Totoro.
However,
to increase the size
of the theme park,
the studio will add new attractions of other films.
Also being built are antique shops like those seen in Whisper of the Heart.
The company
will add other areas
based on
Kiki’s Delivery Service,
Howl’s Moving Castle,
and Princess Mononoke.
The company’s official Twitter account stated that the opening day would be on November 1, 2022.
The theme park’s opening comes after Nintendo,
another well-known
Japanese company,
opened its own theme park in 2021 at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka.

ースタジオジブリのテーマパーク2022年11月にオープンへー
スタジオジブリが作品を題材にしたテーマパークの開設を計画しています。2005年の万国博覧会の跡地に、劇場とショーエリアのあるビルを含むパークが建設される予定です。すでにこの敷地には「となりのトトロ」に登場するサツキとメイの家の模型が建てられています。しかしテーマパークの規模を拡大するために、他の作品のアトラクションを新たに追加する予定です。また『耳をすませば』に登場するようなアンティークショップも建設される予定です。その他「魔女の宅急便」「ハウルの動く城」「もののけ姫」をテーマにしたエリアも追加する予定。
同社の公式Twitterアカウントによるとオープン日は2022年11月1日であることが明らかになりました。このテーマパークのオープンは、同じく日本の有名企業である任天堂が、2021年に大阪のユニバーサル・スタジオ・ジャパンに自社のテーマパークをオープンさせたのに続くものです。
