YOASOBI『勇者』英語版がrhymeを意識している件について！

　突発で記事を書いていますが、『勇者』の英語versionが出ましたね。

　わたしは以前、YOASOBI の楽曲の英語版の歌詞をつよめに批判していたので、今回の英語版の歌詞もあまり期待せずに視聴したら、以前より明らかにrhymeを意識した歌詞になっていて、本当に驚きました。

　例えば『アイドル』の英語歌詞はほとんどrhymeが意識されておらず、率直にいって、残念なクオリティです。

　しかし『勇者』の英語版は、どうみても以前よりもrhymeを意識した歌詞になっています。これは素晴らしいです。

　わたしの記事が影響したという訳ではまぁないとは思いますが、英語の歌詞は韻踏まないより踏むほうが絶対に良いですし、こうしてアーティストの成長？を体験できるのは嬉しいことです。なにより批評しがいがあります。

　そんなわけで、今回の記事ではYOASOBI 『勇者』の英語版の歌詞が、どうrhymeを組まれているのかをみていきます。英語の歌詞内容や発音などは考慮せず、純粋にrhyme組みだけに焦点をあてた記事になります。

１　プレ・コーラスパート

Many days tinted in fairy tale scenes[síːnz]
Have arrived at the end, proof we have seen[síːn]
I cut out and choose from a trip so long[lˈɔːŋ]
A little passage I review[rɪ.vjúː]

Tale of what's taken place right on this field[fíːld]

　やや変則的な構成ですが、AAxB ACCBというrhymeスキームになっていると思われます。longはrhymeされていないので、まぁ冒頭の時点で崩れてはいますが、明らかに以前の英語歌詞と異なり、rhymeが意識されていることが分かります。

　意識して制作しないとこういう歌詞にはなりません、偶然ということはあり得ないでしょう。いったい何があったのか！と思いますが、ともかく素晴らしいです。

２　ヴァースA1パート

No more pages left in that story[stˈɔː.ri]
Our hero goes into slumber, deep[díːp]
Leaving behind a veil of peace for all[ˈɔːl]
Saving the dwellers of this land[lˈænd]
The flow of time erases without mercy[mˈɚː.si]
And erodes all memories and hues[hjúːz]
Even the traces left in life are now[nάʊ]
rusting as time ensues[ɪn.súːz]

　ヴァースAのrhymeスキームは、AAxx ABxBですね。やはり変則的で、かつ押韻されていない箇所もあります。わたし個人としては、楽曲全体で確実にrhymeがされていないのは残念ではありますが、もともと全く何もない状態だったので、そこからすれば大きな進歩を感じます。

　ただ気になるのは、story/deep/mercyといった、単語本来のストレス音節でrhymeせず、非ストレス音節を使った不完全韻も目立つところです。このような不完全韻は後半にも多く出てきますが、rhymeとしては亜流な印象を与えるので、頻発させるのは推奨はできません。

　しかし、それでも全く韻が無いよりはるかに良いです。

３　ヴァースB1パート

And yet, I keep all your hopes[hóʊpz]
All the words and wishes, courage you owned[ónd]
Still dwell inside me, and even now in my heart[hάɚt]
Keep living through[θruː]

　このパートはrhymeが存在しないですね。残念ですが、仕方ない。

　hopes/ownedはrhymeになりそうですが、楽曲内のownedの発音が[óʊ]ではないので、rhyme判定していません。

４　コーラス1パート

Odyssey we shared, on the same path[pˈæθ].
And nothing more to that[ðˈæt]
So it should have been[hˈæv.n], but suddenly[sˈʌ.dn.li],
I was wondering[wˈʌn.dɚ.ɪŋ]
All those tears rolling down[dάʊn] my cheeks. Why do[duː]
they come out and fall?[fˈɔːl]

I wanna find out[άʊt]
And still even right now,[nάʊ]
if I engage in[en.géɪ.dʒɪn]
the journey we went about again[ə.gén]
Though I am no longer walking next to you[juː]
One day, I know I'll find the truth[trúːθ]

　やや判定に迷う箇所もありますが、少なくともpath/that、out/now、you/truthのペアはrhymeが意識して組まれているようにみえます。

　特にサビは凝ったメロディになっているので、rhymeされていると歌詞が明瞭になって、美しく聴こえますね。逆にrhymeされていない小節は、歌詞がごちゃっとして聴こえるので、rhymeの有無による聴感上の影響は大きいことが改めてよく分かります。

５　ヴァースA2 / Cパート

And now that story unfolds into[ˈɪn.tú]
a journey that, alone, I set out to[túː]
I meet the locals of every town I stop in[stάp.ɪn]
They all are recalling the person that you were[wə]

Unwavering kindness is spoken of you[júː]
Acting all cool[kúːl] in everything you'd do[dúː]
Here and there, we can find[fάɪnd] scattered symbols around[ə.rάʊnd]
Manifesting battle we won for peace[píːs]

　このパートは、into/to、you/doがrhymeされていますね。

６　ヴァースDパート

And even that was left for me so one day[déɪ]
I wouldn’t find myself alone, becoming lonely[lóʊn.li]
And I call to mind every moment of our journey[dʒˈɚː.ni]
When I see the signs left in these scenes[síːnz]

　ここは不完全韻ですが、day以外は踏まれているようにみえます。

７　プレ・コーラス2パート

Many days tinted in fairy tale scenes[síːnz]
Have arrived at the end, proof we have seen[síːn]
It was that moment, our fateful meeting[míː.tɪŋ]
One percent of the journey, spent with me[míː]

　meetingだけ不完全韻ですが、許容範囲といえそうです。

８　ブリッジパート

Even if your courage is swept[swépt]
away to the distance[dís.təns]
And the wind has taken[stéɪk]
what everybody can recall[rɪ.kˈɔːl]
I will bring you on with me into the future's light[lάɪt]
I've taken your hand in mine[mάɪn]

　ここはlight/mineだけですね。

９　コーラス3パート

I know it all began right at that time[tάɪm],
Mundane everyday signs[sάɪnz]
The moments ignited[ɪg.nάɪt.ɪd]
in laughter with you remain[rɪ.méɪn]
My reflections of those times[tάɪm]
go on as brightly shining[ʃάɪn.ɪŋ] scenes[síːnz]

　time/signs/ignited/times/shiningとやや変則的ではありますが、rhymeを感じることができます。しかし、本当にremainがもったいないですね。

　あとほんの少し手を加えるだけで、きれいになるのになぁと思います。

10　コーラス4パート

Now a new beginning has begun to be and[ˈænd]
In this land that you protected and[ˈænd]
kept in safety[séɪf.ti]. These budding[ˈbʌd.ɪŋ]
lives are with me[mí] on this journey[dʒˈɚː.ni]

　and/andでrhymeするのは美しくないですね。というか、こういう状態になる歌詞って英語の楽曲では見ない気がします。たぶんネイティブ・チェックをしていないんだろうなと感じました。したほうが良い気がします。

　あと楽曲の締めが不完全韻になるのも、これも美しくはないですね。最後くらいバチッと締めてほしいと感じます。

　が、rhymeがないよりは絶対に良いので、YOASOBI の進歩を感じます。

まとめ

　というわけで突発で記事を書きましたが、いやー驚きました。視聴してすぐにrhyme意識していることが分かったので、嬉しかったですね。

　そのうち、全体できれいなrhymeスキームが組まれた歌詞がみられることを強く期待しています。次回が楽しみです。
