遅すぎることはない
私はIT業界で技術を推進する仕事に携わっている。二十代の頃、「エンジニアは三十五歳を過ぎたらやっていけない」という限界説を耳にし、私自身も将来はマネージャー職に回らざるを得ないのではないかと不安だった。そんなとき、当時の上司が「遅すぎることはない」と穏やかな笑みで言ってくれたのだ。その言葉は、私の心に強く刻まれた。
気づけば私も三十五歳を超え、いまでもプログラミングを続けながら、新たな技術戦略を考える立場にいる。それは、年齢や肩書にとらわれず、常にチャレンジをし続けてきたからだろう。上司の言葉は、経験と知識を重ねるほどに深い意味を持ち、私の背中をそっと押し続けてくれているのだ。
It's Never Too Late
I work in the IT industry, where I’m responsible for driving technological initiatives. Back in my twenties, I often heard about a so-called “35-year age limit” for software engineers, which left me worried that I’d be forced into a managerial role. It was then that my boss quietly reassured me, “It’s never too late,” a phrase that took firm root in my mind.
Now, well past the age of thirty-five, I still spend my days programming while also planning new technology strategies. I owe this to my unwavering commitment to challenge myself, regardless of age or title. Over time, my boss’s words have gained even greater depth, gently supporting me from behind every step of the way.
