ウクライナで起きた虐殺事件のこと
２１世紀にもこんなひどいことが起きるとは思っていなかったけれど、現実に起きている以上、記録に残します。
遺体に地雷を仕掛けるということを思いつく時点で、その人は狂っています。そんなことが許されるのは、漫画とかのフィクションだけです。実行者の狂人は理性以外のすべてを失っています。前に書いた記事の繰り返しになりますが、G.K.チェスタトンの言葉を引用します。
狂人は正気の人間の感情や愛情を失っているから、それだけ論理的であり得るのである。
実際、この意味では、狂人のことを理性を失った人というのは誤解を招く。狂人というのは理性を失った人ではない。
狂人とは理性以外のあらゆるものを失った人である。
今も進行中の戦争なので、さらにひどいことが起きるかもしれません。
フランスとドイツが、この犯罪行為に対抗して、ロシアの外交官を追放すると発表しました。多分、この種の応酬がロシアと他の国の間で続くでしょう。
もはや、"A new kid in town" を聴いても、"What's going on" を聴いてさえも私の心は安らぎません。
２０世紀にも、虐殺事件は数知れず起きたと思いますが、私が思い出したのは、ベトナム戦争時にアメリカ軍の部隊が引き起こしたソンミ村虐殺事件です。
これもひどい事件でした。概要はウィキペディアを参照してください。ただ、その中にこう書かれています。
事件から４０年経った２００８年３月１６日、事件現場跡に建てられた記念館にて追悼式典が開かれ、事件の生存者や元アメリカ軍兵士、地元住民が参加した。
ベトナム戦争が終結した１９７５年には、今のようにアメリカとベトナムの関係が改善するとは思っていませんでした。しかし、１９９５年にアメリカとベトナムとの国交が回復しました。ベトナム税関総局によると、２０２１年上半期（1～6月）の、ベトナムからアメリカへの貿易高は、「対米国では、輸出が455億7,689万ドル（44.7％増）で1位、輸入は76億2,777万ドル（9.0％増）で5位だった」そうです（日本貿易振興機構（JETRO）記事）。
このように、ベトナムとアメリカの間の経済活動は活発なようです。下の記事によると、ベトナム政府の方針と、ベトナム人の気質が寄与しているそうです。
ベトナム政府は米国などに戦争被害の謝罪や補償を求めていない。（中略）米国はベトナムにとって繊維製品などの輸出先で、最大の貿易相手国だ。韓国もサムスンなどが対ベトナム投資に力を入れてきた。米調査機関ピュー・リサーチ・センターが２０１７年に実施した意識調査によると、ベトナム人の８４％が米国に「好意的」と回答。また１５年の調査ではベトナム人の８０％以上が韓国に「好意的」との結果だった。旧ソンミ村で住民支援を続ける財団代表のチュオン・ゴック・トゥイさんは「忍耐強く、利他的なのがベトナム人の気質だ。逃げた人を責めても、謝罪に戻ってきた人まで追及しようとしない」と話す。
今の戦争がどのようにして終わるのか、まったくわかりませんが、ウクライナの人たちがロシアの人々を許すのは、何年先になるでしょうか。

I never thought such a terrible thing could happen in the 21st century, but now that it is happening in real life, I will put it on record.
When a person comes up with the idea of planting a landmine on a corpse, he or she is crazy. Such a thing is only allowed in comic books and other fictions. The madman who does it has lost everything but his reason. To repeat what I wrote in my previous article, I quote G.K. Chesterton.
He is not hampered by a sense of humour or by charity, or by the dumb certainties of experience. He is the more logical for losing certain sane affections. Indeed, the common phrase for insanity is in this respect a misleading one. The madman is not the man who has lost his reason. The madman is the man who has lost everything except his reason.
It's an ongoing war, so even worse may happen.
France and Germany have announced that they will expel Russian diplomats in response to this criminal activity. Perhaps this kind of exchange will continue between Russia and other countries.
No longer do I feel at ease listening to "A new kid in town" or even "What's going on".
I think there were countless massacres in the 20th century, but I remember the Mỹ Lai massacre caused by US troops during the Vietnam War.

On March 16, 2008, 40 years after the massacre, a memorial service was held at the memorial hall built on the site of the incident, in which survivors of the massacre, former US soldiers, and local residents participated.
When the Vietnam War ended in 1975, I did not expect relations between the U.S. and Vietnam to improve as they have today. However, diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Vietnam were restored in 1995. According to the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam, in the first half of 2021 (January-June), trade volume from Vietnam to the United States "ranked first with exports to the United States at $45,576.89 million (up 44.7%) and Imports were fifth at $7,627.77 million (up 9.0%)" (Japan External Trade Organization article).
Economic activity between Vietnam and the U.S. appears to be brisk. According to the article below, the Vietnamese government policy and the disposition of the Vietnamese people are contributing factors.
The Vietnamese government has not asked the United States or other countries to apologize or compensate for the damage caused by the war. (Omitted) The United States is Vietnam's export destination for textile products and the largest trading partner. In South Korea, Samsung and others have been focusing on investment in Vietnam. According to a 2017 attitude survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, a US research institute, 84% of Vietnamese responded that they were "favorable" to the United States. According to a 2015 survey, more than 80% of Vietnamese were "favorable" to South Korea. Truong Ngoc Thuy, president of the foundation that continues to support the residents of the former Son My Village, said, "The Vietnamese people are patient and altruistic. They may blame those who ran away, but they do not try to pursue even those who came back to apologize," he said.
I have no idea how the current war will end, but I wonder how many years it will be before the Ukrainian people forgive the Russian people.
