少し歩くだけで季節を感じ、何気ない今日が歴史とつながっているのを発見する。「静岡はいいとこだもんで、もっと知ってほしいだよ～」（静岡弁）
さあ、100回目のテーマ。静岡の柔らかい冬の陽ざしを楽しみながら梅見はいかがでしょうか。

Enjoying Plum Blossom Viewing in Sumpu Castle Park
駿府城公園で梅見を楽しむ

February is the best time to enjoy plum blossom viewing in Shizuoka.
2月は静岡で梅を見るのに一番良い時です。

The blooms tell that spring is coming.
梅が咲いていることが春の訪れを告げています。

Japanese people think that spring is just around the corner when plum blossoms are blooming.
梅の花が咲いている時、日本人は春がすぐそこまで来ているのだなと思います。

I went to Momijiyama Garden, located in the Sumpu Castle Park, to enjoy viewing plum blossoms.
駿府城公園内にある紅葉山庭園に梅見を楽しもうと行ってきました。

It is a traditional Japanese style garden where we can enjoy viewing and sensing the seasonal change.
伝統的な日本庭園で、そこでは季節の変化を眺めて感じることが出来ます。

White and red plum blossoms are blooming under the gentle sunlight in winter.
紅梅、白梅が冬の穏やかな陽ざしのもと咲いています。

In ancient Japan, viewing "blossoms" used to refer to plum blossoms.
古代の日本では「花見」と言えば、梅の花を指しました。

Plum blossom viewing was so popular among noblemen in the Nara period because the custom was introduced from China as the most sophisticated culture.
梅見は奈良時代の貴族の間でとても人気がありました。その風習は中国から最も洗練された文化として紹介されました。

The current Japanese period’s name ‘Reiwa’ has originated from words in a poem expressing plum blossom viewing in Man'yoshu, the oldest collection of Japanese waka (poetry in Classical Japanese).
現在の日本の時代の名前である「令和」は、日本最古の和歌集、万葉集の中にある、梅見を描いた和歌に由来しています。

Since Heian period, cherry blossom viewing became popular among Japanese, however, plum blossoms continued to be loved by many Japanese.
平安時代以来、桜の花見が日本人の間では人気がありますが、梅を見るのも多くの日本人に愛され続けました。
In this Momijiyama Garden, enjoying matcha with special sweet is also a must.
紅葉山庭園では、特別なお菓子の付いた抹茶を堪能するのも必ず体験したほうが良いです。（マストです・必須です）

I thought the motif of the sweets was plum blossom, however, it was tsukushi or horse tail, which grows in spring.
お菓子のモチーフは梅の花だと思っていましたが、それは春に生えるツクシでした。

From their service, the staff made me feel as if spring had arrived already.
このスタッフの方々のおもてなしで、まるで春がもう来たかのように感じられました。

I was very lucky to see a Japanese white-eye on a plum blossom tree.
ラッキーなことに、梅の木にメジロがとまっているのを見ることが出来ました。

It also made me sense the coming of seasonal change.
この事でも季節の変化が感じられました。
