Memorial Donations in honor of Dr. Hirofumi Uzawa, who suggested Social Common Capital

The harsh summer has passed in Kyoto, and it has become cooler. Today, we have a small announcement regarding the memorial gifts in honor of Dr. Hirofumi Uzawa.

We are a research division of Kyoto University that conducts research and disseminates information on utilizing Social Common Capital (SCC) for the future, as proposed by Dr. Hirofumi Uzawa, an economist from Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture.

Dr. Uzawa was an outstanding researcher who not only made world-class achievements in mathematical research on economic growth but also confronted issues such as pollution, inequality, global warming, Minamata disease, and the problems of Narita Airport construction.

As an educator, Dr. Uzawa has also nurtured many brilliant researchers and citizens in Japan and the United States. Dr. Uzawa's many books have been translated into various languages and continue to encourage people to strive for a truly affluent society.

Dr. Uzawa's books

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Dr. Uzawa's death in Tokyo in 2014.

As a small gesture to honor Dr. Uzawa's achievements, when our research division accepts donations in his memory, we will publish a message from that person on this weblog from time to time.
(Donations accepted through the end of September 2025 are eligible.)

After donating, please send us your message by e-mail to "sccf.ifohs(at)mail2.adm.kyoto-u.ac.jp".

Please indicate if you do not wish your message to be published on this weblog.

Your memorial gift will be used to develop the theory of social common capital to realize the "truly affluent society" Dr. Uzawa envisioned.
