銃規制「先進国でも進んでいかない話」

元大統領暗殺未遂事件で改めてアメリカが銃社会であることが認識された。銃保持が合法である国は先進国ではほぼない。実はアメリカだけなのだ。アフリカには銃を認める国は多い。
The ex-President was narrowly assassinated yesterday, which made us recognize America as a nation with gun culture, and only a few countries allowed their citizens to possess their own guns, and almost all industrial nations except America don’t allow their people to have it.
Not a few countries in Africa do so, to our regret.

アメリカでは年間２万人近くが銃の犠牲になっている。にも関わらず銃規制が進まない。しかも乱射事件を含む銃犯罪が年々増えている。平均すると１日に100以上が銃殺されている。
There are over 20 thousand victims by gun violences in a year in America, which is extremely astonishing number.
Despite this, the government in America cannot promote the gun control, which might be a taboo.
In addition, the number of gun violences has become larger and larger in America year by year, which includes a few mass shooting.
On average, over 100 victims are killed in the gun crimes a day, which is also frightening number.

銃を保持する割合は４割合で理由としては護身のためが６割を占める。貧困層の所持率が高いということは経済的な支援があれば治安は良い方向に進むのか。どの国も同じ状況なんだな。
The percentage of gun owners is about four out of ten, and two out of three owners possess it in order to protect themselves on their own, in other words, self-defense.
People in poverty are likely to have their own gun because they live in the poor district, where the crime rate is high as compared with the rich area.
The poor neighborhoods need the economic supports, everyone knows, but the supportive money cannot necessarily play an effective role in their neighborhoods filled with alcohol, violence, gamblings and so on.

犯罪の多い社会で生活するなら自分を守る護身用の銃がいるという考えは理解できる。ただ規制が進むと困る人が出てくるはずだ。製造業者とか販売業者とか。人種のるつぼも不安だ。
When we live in the neighborhood where we afraid of various kinds of crimes every day, it is natural that we should possess our own guns to protect ourselves with it, otherwise we are killed in a short while as soon as the criminals enter our house, to our regret.
At the same time, however, a tremendous number of people are brought into the critical and crucial situation when the gun control makes progress.
It is because there are numerous manufacturers and retailers treating guns in their society, so we cannot help considering the melting pod as a challenging society.
