Episode48: Before Dawn, After Dusk
It seems strange that the sun doesn’t take a sleep before the horizon. In the summer, the darkness at night never visits the Artic. I wonder if I’m in a dream or a daydream. The silence creeps into the city and invades. I hear a subtle sound of a tram running somewhere.
In a purple-orange sky, I can see birds flying. They also seem to enjoy a long summer night. The midnight sun creates a strange world which is neither night nor day., as if it were left behind by time. There are a lot of lakes and forests in Finland. They shut their mouths and keep silent during the mid-summer nights. I might meet trolleys on a night like this.
It’s really shame that Japan doesn’t have a long vacation culture. Sometimes I think about an Aesop Fable, the Ants and the Grasshopper. Which of them gets a happy life? I fall into a confusion whenever I wonder if I work for a life, or if I live for a work.
Life looks like four seasons. In spring, we come into the world and spend a fresh term of our life, in summer we get many experiences from it, then autumn we change them to wisdom, and finally in winter, we draw the curtain on our life.
Mr.Scrooge* found the miserable winter after his hard work, as well as The Grasshopper after epicureanism. What should I do to find a much warmer winter?
While I see the midnight sun never setting, gradually I got to forget all in the silence…
