Kitakyūshū Museum of Natural History and Human History いのちのたび博物館
I started my 4-day trip to Fukuoka and Saga at Kitakyūshū Museum of Natural History and Human History in Kitakyūshū City, Fukuoka Prefecture 福岡県北九州市.
北九州市 自然史・歴史博物館(いのちのたび博物館)

I learned about this museum from series of highly enlightening articles on “The Lost Universe" by 美原さつき様 such as
This museum is quite enlightening, the exhibition of coelacanth was especially informative, and the section of "Extinction" reminded me of an important subject that few people pay much attention to. Although I read "The Sixth Extinction" by Elizabeth Kolbert in May 2017, this subject had slipped my mind.
In addition, a corner that shows Kitakyūshū City has several interesting places from geological and biological point of views is worth mentioning.
For example,
Michihi-no-Shio (満干の潮) is a cold-water geyser, a phenomenon in which groundwater gushes out at intervals when a certain amount of groundwater accumulates in an underground cavity, etc., using the siphon principle. The high and low tides are characterized by the irregular repetition of gushing water, and the behavior of gushing water is clearly influenced by the earth's tides, making this a rare example with high scientific value.

Here're photos I took… I do not have the ability to organize and arrange the photos I took on 16th October 2024 at the museum, so please forgive me for pasting them at random without any detail annotations.
Being a big fan of coelacanths, I was very pleased to find the coelacanth section 😎
