“Effortlessness” is in the air these days?

I wrote a little essay. Hope you enjoy it.

“Effortlessness” is in the air these days?
“Effortlessness” is in the air these days? Is it what life is all about?
Umm… Indeed, there appears to be something that the concept should get you in life. I never reject it altogether. But the question is: Is it what life is all about? Would you care to live in a house of cards with no walls?
Instead, I believe there would be more to be lost that way—something precious that could never be achieved again in life.
Life does not reside in easy-going and comfortable efficiency alone but also in rationality and some percent of “irrationality.” And irrationality here includes, I believe, a considerable amount of effort, which “effortlessness” would try to minimize in pursuit of maximizing results. But are those concomitant maximized results genuinely more precious than a significant amount of effort? I doubt it. I believe in “enjoying the ins and outs and twists and turns” in real life.
Also, concerning “effort,” there should be meaning not only in “good” and “pragmatic” effort but in “bad” or “wasted” effort as well. We could learn a lot from the latter. This point, I refuse to compromise.
What? “It’s a bit tragic and uncool,” they say? Let them say that.
「お気楽に」が最近の風潮？
「お気楽に」が最近の風潮？えっ、人生ってそれだけなの？
うーん、確かに、そうした生き方も一理あるようには思える。そうした考え方を全否定するつもりはない。でも、問題はそれが人生のすべてなの、ってこと。要するに、砂上の楼閣に住みたいの、ってことだと思う。
そのようにして失うものの方が、実はかえって多いはず。そのことで人生で二度と得ることができなくなってしまう貴重なものだってあるはずだから。
人生には、お気楽で快適な効率性だけじゃなくて、合理性と何パーセントかの 「非合理性 」もまたある。そしてそうした非合理性には、かなりの量の努力といったものが含まれると思う。「お気楽に」という考え方は、結果の最大化を追求するあまり努力を最小限に抑えようとしてる。でも、そうして最大化された結果は、それ相応の努力よりも本当に貴重なものなのだろうか？自分としてはそうは思わない。現実に生きていく中では「裏と表や紆余曲折を楽しみたい」って個人的には思ってる。
それからまた、「努力」について言えば、「いわゆる良い努力/現実的な努力」だけでなく、「いわゆる悪い努力/無駄な努力」にだって意味があるはずだ。「いわゆる悪い努力/無駄な努力」からも多くを学ぶことができるのだから。この点だけは譲れない。
え、「ちょっと痛くてカッコ悪い」って？まあ、そう言う人には言わせておけばいいさ。
