ビートルズは大好きだが、ジョージの”インド趣味”丸出しの曲は今イチだなあと思っていた。
ちょっとしたきっかけで、アルバム『サージェント・ペッパー』の中の「Within You Without You」を見なおしてみて、その歌詞の世界に、すげえなあと思った。
そう言えば、ジョン・レノンはこの曲について「ジョージの最高傑作のひとつ」とベタ褒めだし、またwikiで知ったのだけど、この曲の歌詞に感動して自宅の庭にこの歌詞を彫った碑を作ったミュージシャンもいるとのこと。
今こそ分かる気もする。
ちなみにこれを作詞作曲した時のジョージはまだ24歳！おそるべし。
