明治大学かわさきワインプロジェクト レポート（6/10黒川農場実習編）
みなさん、初めまして。明治大学かわさきワインプロジェクト広報担当、生命科学科2年の小林瑞季です。戸田さんからレポートのあった講義編に続き,
私からは実習編をお送りします。
Hello, everyone. My name is Mizuki Kobayashi, and I am a sophomore, life science major student at Meiji University. I'm in charge of public relations for our project.
今回は明治大学黒川農場のビニールハウスで、ワイン用ぶどう「マスカット・ベーリーＡ」の苗木の誘引と、ぶどうの実の除去を行いました。
Today, we trained grapevines and pinched off some of the grapes at the university-owned farm.
まずは誘引について！
「誘引」というのは、植物が目的の形状に成長できるよう、茎などを支柱に紐で結びつける作業です。他に、暴風によって茎が折れてることを防ぐ役割もあります。
Training is a process of orienting the plant and directing its growth. This process prevents the stem from being broken by heavy rain or a storm.
約1ヶ月前に誘引を行った際と今回で、苗木を比較してみました。
背丈が高くなっていることが分かります。成長が早いですね！
I compared the appearance of the grapevines from a month ago with their recent state, and you can clearly see that they have grown taller. It's impressive how quickly they grow!
細かいことですが、誘引の際、ただ紐を支柱に結ぶだけではだめです。支柱に対して、紐を「8の字」にして結びます。8の字に結ぶことで、茎が成長して太くなっても、茎を傷つけないようにするそうです。１つの作業でも、こんなに沢山の意味と役割があることを知ると、作業ひとつひとつ非常に面白いです。
In the training process, you have to tie a string in a way that looks like Figure 8. By doing so, the stem won’t hurt when it grows and becomes thick. Interestingly, even one process has a lot of meanings and roles.
ところでみなさん、ぶどうの花を見たことはありますか？
実は、この花を見ることができるのは、とってもラッキーなことです。なぜなら開花が1週間程度の短い期間だからです。
By the way, have you ever seen a flower of grape before? It is rare to see.
一目を惹く、華やかなものではありませんが、どこか繊細で、静かな美しさが感じられます。日本では、お花見というと桜のイメージが強いですが、ワインぶどうのお花見があったら素敵だなと思います。
ワインにチーズにお花……。考えるだけでワクワクします（笑）
The grape flower may not be overly vibrant, but it possesses a subtle beauty. In Japan, we celebrate "Hanami," a flower-viewing party typically associated with cherry blossoms. However, it would be wonderful to do something similar for grape flowers.
さて、今回黒川農場で栽培しているぶどうの苗木を見てみると、中には、すでに受粉して結実しているものがありました。
山田さんによると、まだ苗木が十分に成長していない時に、結実した実を残してしまうと、実に養分が吸い取られ、苗木の成長が損なわれるのだそうです。そのため、今回は残念ですが、その実を取り除くことになりました。
As we inspect the seedlings on our farm, we see that some of the flowers have already pollinated and begun to fruit. Mr. Yamada mentioned that if we allow the fruit to develop during the early stages of seedling growth, the nutrients will be absorbed by the fruit instead of being used for the growth of the seedlings. Therefore, we removed the fruit.
余談ですが、現在私のネイルはワイン色です！（笑）
ワイン実習に取り組んでいくにつれ、ぶどうに愛着がわき、ぶどう特有の赤紫色が大好きになりました。
Incidentally, my nail color is wine red. As I engaged in this project, I became attached to grapes and their beautiful color.
実習が始まって、3ヶ月が経とうとしていますが、毎回、ワインの世界の奥深さには驚かされます。それと同時に、新しいことにチャレンジする楽しさを、身を持って実感しています。
数ヶ月前までは、ワインに関する知識など全く無かった私が、今では自らの爪をぶどう色にしてしまうほどこの世界にハマりました。
It has been three months since this project started, but every time I go, I’m impressed with the depth of the world of wine. Along the way, I’ve discovered the delight that comes from embracing new challenges. A few months ago, I had no knowledge of wine but now, I’m obsessed with it and even do my nails in wine color.
また、この実習は、普段なかなかお会いできない、様々な業界の方々とお話することができる、素晴らしい機会でもあります。
私は、プロジェクトに携わって頂いている先生方が、川崎の農業の未来、ひいては日本の農業の未来のためにご尽力されるお姿に、感銘を受けました。私も、目標に向けて努力を惜しまず、日本の未来を支える一員になりたいと強く思います。
This project also presents an opportunity for us to connect with individuals across various industries. I was truly impressed by the dedication of all the teachers involved in this initiative, as they are striving to shape the future of Japan. I aspire to be someone who actively contributes to this vision of transformation for our country.
まだ20歳。もう20歳。
いくつになっても、新しいことを始めるには勇気が必要ですが、飛び込んでみると、より輝かしい未来が待っているような気がしてきます。
また来週も楽しんでいきたいと思います！
Some people might feel it’s still 20 years old.
Others might think it’s already 20 years old.
No matter how old we get, we need the courage to challenge.
When we jump into it, the bright future is waiting for us.
