森さんの書いた引き継ぎ資料には磐田商事に関することがすっぽり抜け落ちていた。ああ、森さんは磐田に消されたようなものだからねと八木さんは言った。つまり？何もそこまで引き継がなくてもねと八木さんは笑った。
Who is the most terrifying?
The handover documents written by Ms. Mori were completely missing anything related to Iwata Trading. “Well, Ms. Mori was kind of erased by Iwata” Ms. Yagi said. In other words? “She doesn’t need to take over anything." Ms. Yagi laughed.

何月何日がサラダ記念日だったか覚えられない。まあ所詮人の記念日。そんなことより私たち何月何日に付き合い始めたかだって覚えてないよね？と言うとドライな彼は「覚えてるけど…」と不服そうに言った。好きです。
the Anniversary

初めてのバーに行った。小さいながらも趣味の良い内装だ。カウンターの奥でマスターは枯葉を口ずさんでいた。何にしましょう？枯葉の最後の歌詞は「何にしましょう」だったかなというほどスムーズに彼はそう聞いた。
When autumn leaves start to fall
I went to the bar for the first time then. It was small but tastefully decorated. Behind the counter, the bartender was humming Autumn Leaves. “What shall I make you?” he asked so smoothly that I wondered if the last passage of Autumn Leaves was “What shall I make you?”

件の5番目の先輩のベッドで私は寝かせてもらった。少し飲みすぎた、と思う。先輩も続いてベッドに潜り込み私たちは黙って天井を見た。ベッドから見上げたちょうどそこの天井に先輩の彼女の写真が貼ってあった。

The fifth person is moving to Tokyo. He is going to live and work with his girlfriend in Tokyo. He said “l would be happy when you see me off.” Then I should at least say “I liked you a little bit” at the end. I didn't hear that she was coming to pick him up.

玲子さんはクールでドライだ。そんな彼女がたまに笑うと誰もがハッとする。好きかも、と思う。私はいつもにこにこして居場所を探しているのに、彼女が少し微笑むだけで世界が変わる。それでも私はにこにこしている。
Her smile and my smile
Reiko is cold. So when she smiles once in a while, that just hits us. We might love her. I am always smiling and looking for a place to stay in the world, but just a little smile from her changes the world. Still, I keep smiling.
11-20
この10回は恋愛のことはあまり書かないでおこうと意識していたのだけど普通に書いてるな。まあライトな感じにはなったんじゃないかな、と。
英訳が結構苦労した(DeepLさんが下書きしてくれたんだけど)。特に今回「先輩」とか「後輩」という言葉が出てきたのだけど英語にはこれにあたる単語がなくて、この言葉のニュアンスはある程度犠牲にすることにした。また、私の文章は意図的に主語を抜いたり違和感を残したりしているので、それを補った瞬間にコレジャナイ感にとらわれてバランスを取るのに苦労した。一方で英語にしたことで曖昧にしていた意味がクリアになって、「そうか私はそういうことを言おうとしてたのか」という発見もあった。
英語のニュアンスを調べるのに重宝してるサイトを紹介しておきます。ネイティブでしかも日本語が堪能な先生が質問に細やかに回答してくれてます。それも複数の先生の回答が載ってるから比較できるのもうれしい。めっちゃおすすめ。(突然のお役立ち情報)
