文化が進むと職種が増え、自分の好む職種というものが、だんだんと選びやすくなってきます。そしてそこに生きがい、働きがいが求めやすくなってくるだろうと思います。しかし、今日のところは、まだ十分でなく、この仕事はあまり自分には適していないが、まあこれで甘んじていようかという場合もあると思います。けれども昔からみると、非常に恵まれています。
そう考えてみると、今日に生きるわれわれは、非常に幸せだと思います。自分の好む仕事を求めやすい時代です。こういう時代に生まれながら、もしも仕事に生きがい、喜びを感じないというのであれば、それは原則として許されないことになると思うのです。

As culture progresses, more and more jobs will become available, and it will become easier and easier to choose the kind of job you prefer. It will become easier to find a job that you like and that gives you a sense of purpose in life and work. Today, however, it is still not enough, and there may be times when you feel that this job is not really suitable for you, but you will just have to live with it. However, in the past, I have been very fortunate.
When you think about it, I think we are very lucky to be living in this day and age. We live in an age where it is easy to find a job that you like. If you are born in such an age and yet you do not find fulfillment and joy in your work, I think that, as a rule, that is unacceptable.
