次は、建築とネオンについて。

アールデコ→ストリームライン→グーギーときて、行き詰まったのかな？

Unfortunately for many architects, neon is the last shoddy pink "pizza" sign they have seen and they summarily reject a medium that offers great promise as a spatial and environmental element. Most architects have never considered what the medium can do for them.

ネオンの前ではみんな無力、と私は思う時がある。そのものだけで完結してるように見えるから、思考停止みたいになってしまう。
実際、仕組みを理解して、すぐに応用できる人は少ないと思う。特殊なものだしね。
でも、私はピンクのピザの看板好きだけどなぁ。笑

Some architects are becoming aware of what neon can do as a graphic element. Such recognition falls short, however, of seeing it as a medium for space-defining three-dimensional design.

Since light itself is often an element that architects know little about, and since lighting is often an afer-thought to their design, it is understandable that neon, which requires experimentation, has not yet been "discovered."

"光そのものは建築家にとってほとんど知らない要素であることが多く、照明は設計の後付けであることが多いため、実験が必要なネオンがまだ "発見 "されていないのは理解できる。"

現代の建築家やデザイナーは、照明の事も組み込んでデザインしていると思うけど、昔はそこまで追いついてなかったんだなぁ。ネオンとなれば尚更。

余談になっちゃうけど、土台となる建築物があって、次は電気工事。
だから、建築や内装にお金がかかっちゃうと、ネオンはキャンセルってのは、よくある話です。。

ジェリー・ノー《砂場の虹》1974年（13インチ×13インチ×9インチ、Let There Be Neon Gallery。自然の要素を取り入れたネオンは、多くの彫刻家に興味を持たせてきた。この場合、発光するチューブは砂の質感と非常によく調和している。
