2022年2月28日に公益社団法人日本漫画家協会が発表した、ロシアによるウクライナ侵攻に対する声明の英語版を公開します。（これは赤松健があくまで個人的に協会のリリースを翻訳、そして検証してもらったもので、責任は赤松にあります。）

日本が世界に誇る文化である漫画は、第二次世界大戦が終わり、世界が平和への歩みを始める中で花開きました。
平和は文化の礎で、そしてその文化の多様性と多様性を受け入れる寛容さこそが、人間が人間であることの証明です。

私たち創作者の祈りが、世界の人たちに届きますように。

Regarding the Russian Government’s invasion of Ukraine

Japan manga artists (comic artists) are deeply distressed by the invasion of Ukraine by armed forces of the Government of the Russian Federation and strongly advocate for the prompt suspension of the use of force.
The prosperity of Japanese manga, which is widely loved all over the world, began with the arrival of an era after World War II when manga creators gained full freedom of artistic expression. Peaceful relations without war or repression are cornerstones of today's manga.
Many of our great predecessors who pioneered Japanese manga were survivors of fierce war and because of these experiences embedded their prayers and compassion into their works with the hope of ‘making a world without war again for children’.
It is no exaggeration to say that the values of these pioneers have been passed on to succeeding generations of artists who have carried on the tradition of utilizing the freedom of artistic expression to promote harmony and caring among all peoples of the world.
It is our great pleasure that Japanese manga are loved in Ukraine, Russia and around the world and that our readers are inheritors of the prayer for peace.
Japanese manga artists advocate for the rapid suspension of destruction, killing and division which is contrary to the act of artistic creation which fosters relationships, affinity, and compassion for one another as human beings.

Okiagarikoboshi* connecting Ukraine and the Japan Cartoonists Association  (*a doll designed to return to an upright position when knocked over) The Okiagari-koboshi Project was launched in Paris by designer Kenzo Takada after the March 11, 2011, earthquake which caused widespread damage in Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture. Many manga artists participated in the project which involved painting Koboshi, a traditional doll originating in Fukushima Prefecture. The Koboshi doll, which returns to an upright position after being knocked over, represents the prayer of ‘revival even after hardship’. In return for receiving significant relief and comfort from Ukraine, the Japan Cartoonists Association presented a ‘thank you’ manga-koboshi (pictured above) to confirm the exchange of support that continues to this day.
