雲龍院の悟りの窓「円相」に向かい　 【雲龍院Ⅱ】　Heading to " Enso” of the Enlightenment Window at Unryuin

雲龍院の書院には「悟りの間」という部屋がある。そこには、四角い「迷いの窓」と、丸い「悟りの窓」がある。入口近くの「迷いの窓」は人生における苦しみを象徴し、「生老病死四苦八苦｣を表しているといわれている。そして奥にはある「悟りの窓」は真円で、禅における悟りの境地を表し、宇宙が表現されているといわれている。そして窓越しに、四季折々の景色が楽しめるようになっている。

There is a room called "Enlightenment Room" in the shoin of Unryuin. There are a square "window of confusion" and a round "window of enlightenment". The "window of confusion" near the entrance symbolizes the suffering in life and is said to represent "be old, illness, and death". The "window of enlightenment" in the back is a perfect circle that represents the state of enlightenment in Zen and is said to represent the universe. And you can enjoy the seasonal scenery through the window.

さらに床の間には、仏画と般若心経のお軸が掛けてあり、坐禅を組む設坐の部屋のようにも思える。瞑想し般若心経を唱える部屋として存在したのだろう。

In addition, a Buddhist painting and a shaft of Hannya Sutra are hung at Tokonoma, which makes it look like a room with a zazen place. It may have existed as a room for meditation and chanting the Sutra.

禅宗系の寺院でよく一筆で書いた円や、円い障子窓をよく見かける。この雲龍院の悟りの窓もそうであるが、これを円相（えんそう）という。禅における書画のひとつで、図形の丸を一筆で描いたもの。「一円相（いちえんそう）」「円相図（えんそうず）」などとも呼ばれる。 悟りや真理、仏性、宇宙全体などを円形で象徴的に表現したものとされるが、その解釈は見る人に任されている。また、円窓と書いて「己の心をうつす窓」という意味で用いられることもある。 また始まりも終わりもなくスムーズに流れ続ける動きは、仏教のとらわれない心、執着から解放された心を表わしている、ということである。

I often see circles that I wrote with a single stroke and round shoji windows at Zen temples. This is the same as the enlightenment window at Unryuin, but this is called Enso. It is one of the calligraphy paintings in Zen. It is also called "Ichienso" or "Ensozu". It is said that enlightenment, truth, Buddhism, the whole universe, etc. are symbolically expressed in a circle, but the interpretation is left to the viewer. In addition, it is sometimes used to mean a circular window, which means "a window that passes through your heart." In addition, the smooth flow of movement, with no beginning and no end, indicates that the Buddhist mind is free of obsession.

一筆の円相は、今朝書いたもので、心が治まらない心境が見えている。もう一枚は、昨年、円相の中に仏画を描いたときの一枚である。
写経同様に、たまに筆をもち、心を治めるためにと思って書いてみるが、なかなか思うように書けない。しかしながら、楽しいものである。

One stroke of Enso I wrote this morning, and I can see the feeling that my heart has not subsided. The other is the one when I drew a Buddhist painting in Enso last year.
As with the sutras, I sometimes have a brush and try to write it in order to control my mind, but I can not write it as I want. However, it is fun.
