立春四友の美しさが春を彩る 　　The beauty of Lichun's four flowers colors spring

二十四節気の大寒から立春までが一年を通しいちばん寒いといわれている。
ちょうど大寒の日に合わせたかのように、近畿地方の中部、北部でも久しぶりの大雪に見舞われている。

It is said that the period from the great cold of 24 solar terms to the beginning of spring is the coldest throughout the year. It has been hit by heavy snow for the first time in a long time in the central and northern parts of the Kinki region, just as if it was a cold day.

春の花を紹介するのは時節的にすこし早い気はするが、春に向け木々の枝から膨らむ蕾が雪の間から見えている姿に惹かれて。
春を代表する花が「梅・桜・桃・椿」と思っている。それぞれが雪中に埋もれながらも春に向け美しい花を咲かせるためにエネルギーを蓄えている。この雪中四友の美しく憂いにみちた花が春を彩り、我々の目を楽しませてくれる。

I feel that it is a little early to introduce spring flowers, but I was attracted to the appearance of the buds swelling from the branches of the trees seen through the snow toward spring.
I think that the flowers that represent spring are "plum, cherry blossoms, peaches, and camellias." Each of them is buried in the snow but stores energy to make beautiful flowers bloom for spring. The beautiful and melancholy flowers in the snow color spring and entertain our eyes.

シリーズで紹介している「袋中菴 幻の花」写真集より第三弾として、四友の美しさを紹介する。
袋中菴とは、第一弾の繰り返しになるが浄土宗知恩院派の寺院で、江戸時代の初頭に本山知恩院の尼僧の修行道場として創建された尼僧院。前住職まで18代続く尼院で、尼僧さんによって護持されてきた。その寺院に伝わる「山階御流」という挿花伝承の花がある。その御流の写真集「幻の花」から随時抜粋し紹介している。

Introducing the beauty of four flowers as the third installment from the "Taichu-an Phantom Flower" photo book introduced in the series earlier. Taichu-an is a temple of the Jodo-shu Chion-in school, which is the first reiteration, and was built as a training center for the nuns of Honzan Chion-in at the beginning of the Edo period. It was a nun that lasted for 18 generations until the former priest and was protected by a nun. There is a flower that has been handed down to the temple and is called "Yamashina Goryu". Excerpts from the photo book "Phantom Flower" of the current style are introduced as needed.

その第三弾ではそれぞれを立春四友として紹介させていただく。写真の解説は、写真集の解説文を流用させていただいている。少々早いが楽しんでいただければ幸である。

■桜流し帯 Sakura Nagashi obi
蕾の頃から散る間際まで華麗な里桜にくらべ、山奥にひっそりと咲く山桜。その控えめな奥ゆかしさを流し帯に託す

■桃流し帯 Peach Nagashi Obi
早春の訪れを告げる桃の花。その香りが届くころ、染め分けた色帯で桃の色目を表現し、のどかな春の風情をかもし出す

■梅花包み Plum blossom wrap
長かった冬を切り裂くように顔を出す梅の花。立春の候、朝ぼらけの色を花包みにして、訪れた春に捧げる

■椿花包み Camellia flower wrap
ひょっこりと顔を出した椿の花びらに、子供の頃の自分のあどけない姿を重ね合わせてみると、いつしか心温まる
