あだち幸さんの気概と誇り。友禅画「不動明王」が世界遺産仁和寺に奉納される The spirit and pride of Mrs. Sachi Adachi. Yuzen painting "Fudo Myoo" is dedicated to Ninna-ji Temple, a World Heritage Site

密教特有の尊格である明王の一尊である不動明王は大日如来の化身とも言われている。
一般的な仏像は慈悲に溢れ優しい顔や姿をしたものが多いが、不動明王は、悪を絶ち仏道に導くことで救済する役目を担っていることから恐ろしい表情をしている。怖い様相から「闘士の仏」のように見えるが、実際は迷いの世界から煩悩を断ち切るように導く仏で慈悲深いものである。日本では「疫病退散の守護神」としても扱われているようだ。

Fudo Myo, one of the esoteric Buddhist priests, is said to be the incarnation of Dainichi Nyorai. Most of the common Buddhist statues have a merciful and gentle face and appearance, but Fudo Myoo has a terrifying expression because he plays a role in helping by cutting off evil and leading to Buddhism. Although it looks like a "warrior Buddha" from a scary aspect, it is actually a benevolent Buddha that guides you to cut off the worldly desires from the world of wonder. In Japan, it seems to be treated as a "guardian deity of the plague eradication".

その不動明王に、数年前から友禅画家のあだち幸さんが取り組んできた。横4.8m、縦2.7mの巨大な「あだち幸不動明王」が完成し、6月28日に世界遺産である仁和寺に奉納される。
その式典が午前中金堂で執り行われ、合わせ400年前に制作された５大明王（不動明王も）が公開される。400年前に制作された不動明王と令和の不動明王を合わせて観られるのは、実に仏画ファンにはたまらない。

Yuzen painter Sachi Adachi has been working on the Fudo Myoo for several years. A huge 4.8m wide and 2.7m long "Adachi Sachi Fudo Myoo" will be completed and will be dedicated to Ninna-ji Temple, a World Heritage Site, on June 28th.
The ceremony will be held at Kondo in the morning, and the five great Myoo (also Fudo Myoo) produced 400 years ago will be released. It is truly irresistible to Buddhist painting fans to see the Fudo Myoo, which was produced 400 years ago, and the Fudo Myoo of Reiwa together.

ちなみに友禅画というのは、上質な絹地に染料を重ね、胡粉(貝殻からできる白い顔料)でぼかしを入れる、あだち幸さんの独特の技法である。京友禅の手法を基本にした日本画ということになる。20以上の複雑な工程がある友禅染は分業制で成り立っているが、あだち幸さんは「蒸し」「水洗い」以外は図案作成から彩色、仕上げまでの作業を一人で行う。
その集大成となる不動明王に友禅画家あだち幸さんの気概と誇りが乗り移っているようだ。

By the way, Yuzen painting is a unique painting method by Mrs. Sachi Adachi, in which dye is layered on a high-quality silk fabric and blurred with whitewash (white pigment made from shells). It is a Japanese painting based on the method of Kyo Yuzen. Yuzen dyeing, which has more than 20 complicated processes, consists of a division of labor system, but Mrs. Sachi Adachi does all the work from design creation to coloring and finishing, except for "steaming" and "washing with water". It seems that the spirit and pride of Yuzen painter Adachi Sachi has been transferred to the culmination of this, Fudo Myoo.
