滝に紅葉。珍しい「箕山瀑布」の風景。【一茶庵 稽古追想】　　 　Autumn leaves at the waterfall. A rare scenery of "Kizan Waterfall".

このお軸を観て少々驚いた。滝のそばにモミジがあるのは珍しい。昔から水墨画や水彩画等で滝とモミジが一緒に描かれるのは少ない。

I was a little surprised to see this axis. It is rare that there is a maple near the waterfall. From ancient times, waterfalls and maples are rarely drawn together in ink paintings and watercolors.

写真にあるこのお軸の滝には、紅葉したモミジがひときわ目立つように描かれている。この画はどこの滝をモチーフに描かれているのだろう、という疑問が生じた。南画特有の想像の世界なのか、とも。

In this waterfall on the axis in the photo, the autumnal maple leaves are drawn to stand out. The question arose as to which waterfall was used as a motif in this painting. Is it an imaginary world peculiar to Nanga?

この画を見て、この滝は「箕面の滝」では、と思った方はなかなかの滝通(?)である。箕面の滝も、確かこの画と同じように正面から見て右側にモミジがある。

If you look at this picture and think that this waterfall is "Minoh Waterfall", it is quite a waterfall. Minoh Falls also has a maple on the right side when viewed from the front, just like this picture. 

日本の文人画で知られる江戸時代中期の画家、池大雅も中国の山水画を手本としつつも、実景から多くを学び取ろうとした。そのために、池大雅は日本全国を旅し滝を描いたことでも有名である。大阪にある箕面の滝もその一つである。

Taiga Ike, a painter known for Japanese literary paintings in the middle of the Edo period, also tried to learn a lot from the actual scene while using the Chinese landscape painting as a model. For that reason, Ike no Taiga is also famous for traveling all over Japan and drawing waterfalls. Minoh Waterfall in Osaka is one of them.

実は、この画のモチーフになっているのは中国河南省中西部の山にある「箕山(きざん)」の滝である。有名な箕山瀑布(滝)である。よく水墨画で描かれる有名な滝である。

In fact, the motif of this painting is the waterfall of "Kizan" in the mountain in the Midwestern part of Henan Province, China. It is the famous Kizan Waterfall. It is a famous waterfall that is often painted in ink painting.

その箕山の滝の写真をネットで探してみたが、お軸に描かれているような滝姿は残念ながら見つけられなかった。

 I searched online for a photo of the Kizan waterfall, but unfortunately I couldn't find the waterfall that looks like the one on the axis. 

このお軸に画の作者を筆者は知らないが、南画風に想像の中から生まれ描かれているのかもしれない。それを煎茶の席で、語り合いながら想像を膨らますのも実に楽しいものである。

I don't know the author of the painting on this axis, but it may have been born from the imagination in the style of South painting. It's really fun to expand your imagination while talking about it at the Sencha table.
