2024/05/30「おつかい」"Errand"

商店街のアーケードには、昔ながらの看板や小さな店々が並んでいた。八百屋の前には色とりどりの野菜が山積みされ、花屋の店先には季節の花々が咲き誇っている。その日、私はいつものように、商店街を歩いていた。

商店街の角にあるパン屋で立ち止まり、焼きたてのパンの香りに誘われて店内に入った。店主は笑顔で迎えてくれ、私は手早くパンを選び、レジに向かった。その時、隣に立っていた小さな女の子が、店主におつかいを頼まれていたことに気づいた。彼女は背伸びして、小さな手でお金を差し出していた。店主は微笑みながら、丁寧にパンを袋に詰め、彼女に渡した。

「ありがとう」と言って、女の子は大切そうに袋を抱えて店を出て行った。その姿を見て、私はふと、自分が子供の頃、母親に頼まれたおつかいを思い出した。あの頃は何でも冒険だった。おつかいも、その一部だったのだ。

私はパンを受け取り、商店街の雑踏に戻った。人々が行き交い、話し声や笑い声が聞こえてくる。その中に、私も自分の場所を見つけた。どこか懐かしさを感じるこの商店街は、私の心に温かな灯火をともしてくれる。

その日、帰り道で見た女の子の笑顔が、私の心に深く刻まれた。おつかいを終えた彼女の姿は、小さな成功の証だった。そんな小さな日常のひとコマが、人の心を温かく包むことを思い知らされた。

私もあの女の子のように、日々の中で小さな幸せを見つけていこう。そう思いながら、私は自分の家へと足を進めた。

The arcade of the shopping street was lined with old-fashioned signs and small shops. In front of the greengrocer, colorful vegetables were piled high, and seasonal flowers bloomed at the entrance of the flower shop. That day, as usual, I was walking through the shopping street.

I stopped at the bakery on the corner of the shopping street, lured by the smell of freshly baked bread, and entered the store. The shopkeeper greeted me with a smile, and I quickly chose my bread and headed to the register. At that moment, I noticed a little girl standing next to me, entrusted with an errand by the shopkeeper. She stretched up, handing over money with her small hand. The shopkeeper smiled, carefully packed the bread into a bag, and handed it to her.

"Thank you," the girl said, holding the bag dearly as she left the store. Watching her, I suddenly remembered the errands my mother used to send me on when I was a child. Back then, everything was an adventure. Even errands were part of that adventure.

I took my bread and returned to the hustle and bustle of the shopping street. People were passing by, voices and laughter filling the air. Among them, I found my place. This nostalgic shopping street lit a warm fire in my heart.

That day, the smile of the little girl on her way home was deeply engraved in my heart. Her completed errand was a sign of a small success. I realized how such a small moment in everyday life could warmly envelop one's heart.

Like that little girl, I decided to find small happiness in my daily life. With that thought, I headed home.
