2024/06/30「ナイトハイク」"Night Hike"

蒸し暑い夏の夜、星が空に広がり、セミの鳴き声が響く中、私たちは山の麓に集まった。大学の友人たち、みんなで久しぶりの再会を祝うための特別な夜だった。

集合場所には小さな駐車場があり、車のエンジンが止まるたびに、誰かが降りてきて、笑い声と共に声を掛け合った。懐中電灯の光がちらちらと揺れる中、私たちは準備を整えた。山道の入口には「夜のハイキングコース」と書かれた看板が立っている。

リーダー役の友人が、地図を広げてみんなに説明する。「このルートで辿れば楽に登っていける。とりあえず、まずは星空が一番きれいに見えるポイントまで行こう」

懐中電灯を手に持ち、山道を進みながら、みんなは思い思いの話をし始める。誰かがふざけて、小さい頃の思い出を話すと、笑い声が夜空に響く。その声に混じって、夜風が木々を揺らす音が心地よく耳に届いた。

途中、急な斜面に差し掛かり、息が上がると同時に、ふと見上げた空に無数の星がきらめいていた。その瞬間、みんなが立ち止まり、息を呑んだ。「すごいな、こんな綺麗に星が見えるなんて」と、誰かが感嘆の声を上げた。

さらに進むと、小さな展望台にたどり着いた。そこから見下ろす景色は、昼間とは全く違う顔を見せていた。都会の光が遠くにかすかに見えるだけで、辺りは静寂に包まれていた。みんなで円になり、シートを広げて腰を下ろす。

女子大生の一人がポーチからキャンディの袋を取り出し、1つ1つみんなに配った。「これ買ってきてからみんなでなめよう」

受け取った甘いキャンディを口に入れると、イチゴとミルクのほんのりとした甘みが口いっぱいに満たされた。

「こういう時間、ずっと続けばいいのにな」男子学生がぽつんとつぶやく。皆がその言葉に同意して、無言で夜空を見上げた。星が瞬くたびに、心の中で小さな願い事をする。

夜が深まる中、みんなの心は一つになり、共有した時間が宝物のように感じられた。何気ない日常の中で、こうした特別な瞬間があることが、何よりも大事なのかもしれない。私たちが物思いにふける中、はるか空の上から星空が静かに見守っていた。

On a humid summer night, with stars scattered across the sky and the sound of cicadas echoing, we gathered at the foot of the mountain. It was a special night to celebrate a long-awaited reunion with our university friends.

At the meeting spot, there was a small parking lot. Each time a car engine stopped, someone got out, calling out and laughing. Amidst the flickering light of flashlights, we prepared ourselves. At the entrance to the mountain path, a sign read "Night Hiking Course."

Our friend, who was acting as the leader, spread out a map and explained to everyone, "If we follow this route, we can climb easily. For now, let's head to the spot where the stars are the most beautiful."

Holding flashlights, we started along the mountain path, and everyone began to chat. When someone joked about childhood memories, laughter echoed into the night sky. Mixed with these voices, the sound of the night wind rustling the trees reached our ears pleasantly.

As we came to a steep slope and our breaths grew heavy, we looked up to see countless stars sparkling in the sky. At that moment, everyone stopped and gasped. "Wow, I didn't know the stars could look so beautiful," someone exclaimed in admiration.

As we continued, we reached a small observation deck. The view from there was entirely different from what it looked like during the day. Only the faint lights of the city were visible in the distance, and the surroundings were enveloped in silence. We spread out a sheet and sat down in a circle.

One of the female students took out a bag of candies from her pouch and handed one to each of us. "I bought these so we could all enjoy them together."

As I put the sweet candy in my mouth, the subtle sweetness of strawberry and milk filled my mouth.

"I wish these moments could last forever," a male student murmured. Everyone agreed with his words, silently gazing up at the night sky. With each twinkle of the stars, we made small wishes in our hearts.

As the night deepened, our hearts became one, and the time we shared felt like a treasure. In the midst of our everyday lives, it might be moments like these that matter the most. As we pondered, the starry sky silently watched over us from far above.
