Chapter 1: The Mysterious Coffee Shop
In a quiet corner of the city, there was a small coffee shop called Riken Coffee. The owner, Keiichi Sasaki, was once a famous barista. However, one day, he suddenly withdrew from the spotlight and quietly opened this shop.
The interior was simple, without any extravagant decorations. The menu was nothing out of the ordinary. However, every customer who took a sip of his coffee felt something special.
Some couldn't help but ask,
"Is there a secret ingredient?"
But Sasaki just smiled and said nothing.
Chapter 2: A Young Barista’s Question
One day, a young man named Shota, who dreamed of becoming a barista, walked into the shop.
"Why does your coffee feel so special?" he asked.
Sasaki leaned on the counter and said,
"A rare flower might catch people’s attention, but if it's just rare, people will soon lose interest. A truly captivating flower has something hidden within. Have you ever heard the saying, ‘A hidden flower is beautiful, but a flower revealed loses its beauty’?"
Shota shook his head.
"When people feel that something is different, it’s often because not everything is revealed. Instead of relying on flashy techniques, we carefully blend tradition and creativity. Only when we exceed expectations does a true ‘flower’ bloom."
"So, you won’t tell me your secret?" Shota asked with a playful grin.
Sasaki chuckled. "If I told you everything, it would no longer be a ‘flower.’"
Chapter 3: Growth and Independence
Inspired by these words, Shota decided to work under Sasaki. Sasaki taught him how to make coffee with great care, but he never revealed every detail.
One day, Shota sighed and said,
"Can you teach me a little more?"

"Flower" refers to an attractive charm that constantly changes. Zeami wrote, "A hidden flower is beautiful, but a flower revealed loses its beauty."

『風姿花伝』とは？
この物語のテーマとなっている「秘すれば花」の考え方は、室町時代の能楽師・世阿弥が記した『風姿花伝』からきています。『風姿花伝』は日本最古の演劇論の一つで、芸能だけでなく、ビジネスや人生にも応用できる知恵が詰まっています。
