The Head　〜その頭〜

Spotted a cute mistake on a sign in front of a popular restaurant.

There’s no mistaking of this as the other “head” (as in head, shoulders, etc.), and people would likely understand what was intended — but we haven’t seen anything quite like this before!

大人気のお店の前で、かわいいまちがいを発見しました！

“The head” — おそらく、”Head of the line” （列の頭）と書きたかったのかと思われます！

が、“head” だけを取って、特定のものを示す冠詞の the がついているため、このままだと、「その頭」という意味になってしまいます！（笑）

列に関連した head を使った例と、このようなサインでよく使われる文言をご紹介します！

head を用いて「列の頭」について述べる際は、head of a line のように “of a line” と組み合わせて表現します。

さらに、列の最初の人（車の列の場合は最初の車）を指すので、「列の始まり」という意味とはニュアンスが異なります。

しかし、このようなサインでは head [of the line] を使わず、以下のような文言がよく使われます：
