ボリジ　全草が細かい毛で覆われる地中海原産のハーブ

ボリジ（BORAGE）


ムラサキ目、ムラサキ科、ルリジサ属の地中海
沿岸部を原産地とする一年生の植物。以前には
瑠璃苣（ルリジサ）の名で記事にした事がある。


草丈、６０～１２０cmほどに成長するもので
茎、葉、花と、その全草総てに細かい毛が生え
ざらざらした質感を持っている。


美しい星形花を下向きに咲かせるハーブであり
開花時には桃色の花が咲くが、時間の変化より
青色へと変化する。写真の中に白い花があるが
これは稀に出現するもの。


日本ではあまり食用として利用される事はない
ものだが、この花はサラダやデザートの飾りや
砂糖漬けにして楽しめる。また、若葉も食用に
利用されるものでサラダやハーブティに活用を
されるものとなる。


花の終わった後の種から抽出したボリジオイル
は、γリノレン酸（ＧＬＡ）を豊富に含んでおり


皮膚疾患などの抗炎症作用をもつもので、皮膚
の健康維持にも使われるという。

Borage (BORAGE)

Borage (Borago officinalis) is an annual plant native to the Mediterranean coastal regions. It belongs to the order Boraginales, family Boraginaceae, and genus Borago. Previously, it has also been referred to as 瑠璃苣 (Rurijisa) in articles.

This plant grows to a height of 60 to 120 cm, with fine hairs covering its stems, leaves, and flowers, giving it a rough texture.

Borage is an herb that produces beautiful, star-shaped flowers that bloom downward. When they first open, the flowers are pink, but over time, they change to blue. Occasionally, white flowers appear, though this is rare.

In Japan, borage is not commonly used as a food ingredient. However, its flowers can be enjoyed as salad or dessert garnishes or even candied. The young leaves are also edible and can be used in salads or herbal teas.

Borage oil, extracted from its seeds after the flowers have bloomed, is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).

This oil has anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial for skin conditions and is used to help maintain healthy skin.
