シキブ 愛知県尾張市の実生で生まれた美しき唐子椿
式部 （シキブ）
ツツジ目、ツバキ科、ツバキ属
『ト伴』 （ボクハン）の自然実生として愛知県尾張市
に生まれた『唐子咲』（カラコザキ）の逸品である。
一見するとそうは見えないが、実は一重咲のもの。
その中の蕊部が弁化した唐子咲のものとなってて
唐子弁は紅色地に白い覆輪や絞りが見られ美しい
花姿となっている。
これは『月光』（ガッコウ）のタイプとなり、以前に
此処で紹介した『神等去出』（カラサデ）同様に雄蕊
の葯（ヤク）部のみが弁化したものである。
今回の服部緑地都市緑化植物園の中、一番の難所
に一輪だけ生えていたもの。基本的に撮影する際
には、私は他の落ち葉などは除去してあげてから
撮影をするのだが、全く余裕のない状況だった為
遺物除去を断念、松葉がチラチラと写真の中には
残っている。
カラサデも危ないところに生えていたが、これも
足場が不安定な傾斜部に生えている上に滑り易い
松葉が大量に堆積している場であった。美しい椿
ほど、危険な場所に咲いているものなのですよと
以前の女性ガイドの方が話をされていたがまさに
その通りだと実感させられた。

This exquisite Karako-zaki (peony-like) camellia originated as a natural seedling of Bokuhan in Owari City, Aichi Prefecture.
At first glance, it may not appear so, but it is actually a single-flowered variety. However, its stamen has transformed into petaloid structures, creating the distinctive Karako-zaki form. The Karako petals feature a striking red base with white edging or streaks, resulting in an exceptionally beautiful bloom.
This variety belongs to the Gakkō (Moonlight) type, and like Karasade, which I introduced here previously, only the anther portion of the stamen has undergone petal transformation.
I discovered a single bloom of this camellia in one of the most challenging locations within the Hattori Ryokuchi Urban Greening Botanical Garden. Normally, before photographing a subject, I remove fallen leaves and debris to ensure a clean composition. However, given the lack of time and difficult conditions, I had to abandon this step, leaving scattered pine needles visible in the final shot.
Much like Karasade, which grew in a precarious spot, this camellia was nestled on an unstable slope covered with a thick layer of slippery pine needles. A female guide once told me, “The most beautiful camellias always seem to bloom in the most treacherous places.” As I stood there, carefully balancing myself, I couldn’t help but feel the truth of her words.
