Ko-itten （紅一点）

I have heard that the number of the players of Mahjong, a game of Chinese origin, is on the rise in Japan. I have certainly come to see the games on TV. I used to play them countless when I was a college student. But I was very bad at the game, and I often lost them. Looking back on my memory, I have almost no memory to win the games. I was always the second at best. So, I have never won strong Yaku, strong hands like a poker hand. Still less, I have never won Yakumans, most valuable hands. On the other hand, I had fed Yakumans several times and been trashed. I cannot still forget my big loss when I played a game with my senior colleagues during taking a part-time job. One day, we stayed at a hotel on business and played the game in the night. And I fed Thirteen Orphans, one of Yakumans. It was one of my biggest losses and gave me a great disappointment. As far as I remember, I fed it a few times in my life, and I also fed other Yakumans such as Big Dragons. They used to disappoint and demotivate me, which led me to a big loss.
A few days ago, when I was looking for a topic of Ko-itten in Japanese, I found that Yakumans have 15 hands, such as Thirteen Orphans and Big Dragons, and I found that one of them was Ko-itten, which is not generally accepted, but locally accepted. I have never heard and seen the Yakuman, but helped me to write this article.
麻雀のプレイヤーが増えていると聞いたことがあります。確かにテレビで麻雀を見るようになりました。大学生の頃、ボクも数え切れないほどしました。でも、ボクは下手で、負けてばかりでした。振り返ると、勝った記憶がほとんどありません。いつもよくて2位でした。強い役であがったことがありません。それどころか、役満をあがったことは一度もありません。逆に、役満をふり込んだことは何度かあります。今でも忘れられないのは、バイト時代に先輩とやって大負けしたことです。ある日、仕事でホテルに泊まり、夜に麻雀をしました。その時に、役満の国士無双をふり込んでしまいました。大負けして、悔しかったです。覚えている限りでは、国士無双は何度かふり込んだことあります。また、大三元などの他の役満もふり込んだことがあります。。
先日、日本語の「紅一点」のネタを探していました。その時に、役満は15個あることを知りました。その内の二つが国士無双と大三元ですが、それ以外に、ローカル役満で「紅一点」という役満があることを知りました。ボクは、この役満を見たことも聞いたこともありませんでしたが、おかげでこの記事を書くことができました。
