October 20, 2021：本の処分と買取サービスのありがたみ (Disposal of Old Books and Value of Services for Buying Used Items)

 On Sunday, I made a bold decision to dispose of about 100 old books and send them to a second-hand shop. As I had the urge to clean up the old books on a bookcase suddenly, I disposed of them at random without rechecking their title and details. Now, I feel refreshed but may regret the disposal later. I keep in mind that what is done is done.
 I am happy to see a growing number of service providers that buy old books and other things I do not need. The service I used was simple, too. I just put the old books in a box and called and handed over a carrier. Upon receipt of them by the service provider, it automatically accepts them, whether paid or unpaid. It is helpful for me since I cannot carry heavy items.

　日曜日に、100冊ほどの古い本を処分することを決め、買取業者に送った。とにかく、本棚にあった古い本を無性に処分したくなったので、タイトルや中身を確認することなく、闇雲に処分した。今はすっきりした気分で心地良いが、後で、処分するのではなかったと後悔する本があったかもしれない。でも、やったことは仕方ないと思うしかない。
　最近は、古い本や大きな不用品を引き取ってくれるサービスが増えてありがたい。今回利用したサービスも簡単で楽だった。本を段ボールに入れた後、宅配業者に連絡して、引き取ってもらうだけだった。荷物が引き取り業者に到着すると、有料で引き取ってもらえるかどうか査定され、無償でも送った本は処分してもらえる。ボクのように重たい荷物を持てない人間には本当にありがたいサービスです。
