August 24, 2022: Fashion Designers, Famous Brands, Ashamed (2) （ファッションデザイナー、有名ブランド、赤っ恥（2））

I, who knew nothing about fashion, remembered that I embarrassed myself in Paris, France. It was when my wife and I were in Paris for our honeymoon. We walked around streets with fashion-brand stores to buy a branded bag for my wife. But we were at a loss since there were so many brand stores which we had never heard of. We decided to enter all stores which had fascinating bags. Then, we found a gorgeous and stylish brand store. It had a lot of attractive bags in a locked showcase.
We chose a bag we wanted to check physically and asked one of the staff to take it out of the showcase. After that, we wanted it and asked for the price. We converted it into Japanese yen with a calculator and were amazed at the number. It was far beyond our budget, and we ran away from the store. It was out of place. In retrospect, it was a Hermes or Chanel store. I am still embarrassed to remember the story.

　ファッション音痴のボクは、フランスのパリで大恥をかきました。新婚旅行で、スイスでスキーをした後にパリに移動しました。その時、妻のバッグを買いたくで、パリのブランド街を歩き回っていました。ブランド街を歩いていると、知らないブランドが一杯あり、妻と途方に暮れました。相談の結果、可能性のありそうな店は全部入ってみようということになり、店に片っ端から入りました。その中にとりわけ豪華おしゃれな店がありました。店内には、おしゃれなバックが一杯ありました。
　気に入ったバックを店員さんに取り出してもらい、触らせたもらったところ買いたくなって値札を見せてもらいました。値段を電卓で日本円に換算してびっくりです。とても、買えるような値段ではなく、店を逃げ出しました。場違いでした。
　今思うと、その店はシャネルかエルメスだったのです。今でも、このことを思い出すと、恥ずかしくなります。
